    Is anyone canning for the first time this summer?

    I am canning for the first time this summer and I am not obsessed!

    My wife really got into it last year and we are still using some of the peppers and jams she made then.  It is something that she seems to enjoy and the kids like "helping" too.

      Sounds great that the kids are finding an interest in it also. I know my family and friends love receiving such gifts. It is a great family bonding experience I am sure.

    I am! It is something that my grandmother and my mother did and I'm finally jumping on the band wagon. I had high hopes for my garden - normally all I need to look out for is us eating all the veggies before canning. But this year with the drought we will be supporting our local farmers since our garden didn't fair well.

    I made lemon curd a few weeks ago that sparked my desire to can everything else.
    Soon I will be doing the red sauce and tomato soup and then from there the possibilities are endless.

      I can feel your excitement dappledesigns! I feel the same way. I am small batch canning at least twice a week from the garden right now. I want to make some lemon curd, which I love. It is a great thing that you are supporting your local farmers.
