What's your favorite cereal and do you add fresh fruit or sugar? Is it for just breakfast or when?

I just tried this cinnamon and pecan cereal and it is now one of my new favorites.  That being said I was wondering what your favorite cereal is and what, if any added fruit or sugar you might add? I really want to see what else I have been missing, and do you have more than one?

I try to vary it, but oats are my favorite. The rolled ones (not "quick" and certainly not "instant") are what I usually have in the pantry because they cook more easily and quickly. You just boil them for a minute or two, then turn off the heat to let them steep for a quarter hour. The only things I add are dried fruit e.g. raisins or cranberries, salt, pepper, and an herb from the garden. All go into the pot when the oats do. The fruit sweetens them enough without any added sugar, though occasionally I'll splurge to pour a little maple syrup over them once they're in the bowl.

That sounds really good and healthy, yet would probably also satisfy my sweet tooth.  Thanks I've been trying to find something that was good for both smile

I'm, with Attikos on this one... I love my cooked oatmeal in the morning!  I sometimes put chopped apples and cinnamon in it.  I also like to eat oat bran cereal too, it has a creamier consistency.  My kids love to eat cooked cereal for breakfast too.

I've really tried to get away from eating the boxed cereals, they are pricey for what you get and over processed.

My two favorite ones are: Bran Flakes with banana and lactose free skim milk for a light dinner and oats with papaya, grated fresh white cheese (panela), skim yogurt and chopped pecans for breakfast mmmm.... delicious! In this last time a change the fruit to bring variation into my diet, some of my favorites are pomegranate, grapes, mixed berries and pears.

I love steel cut oats, but I make them a strange way, very healthy.  While they are cooking, I whip 2 eggs, and slowly pour into the oats while they are cooking, along with cinnamon and vanilla, then stevia.  When done, it tastes more like a pudding or custard type dish, but again very healthy.  Many times I add fresh blueberries to the mix as well.

Two slices of toast, a chopped banana fried in low calorie cooking spray and a little honey. Scatter the fried banana over the toast, Add a little maple syrup over the banana and eat.
Or as a favorite cereal I like weetabix 2x with cold milk.

I've never had fried banana or weetabix. I did try a fried peanut butter and banana sandwich once which really didn't work, but this sounds really easy and good. Thanks

I always loved fresh bananas with Corn Flakes cereal, and have many times eaten this as a snack as well as for breakfast.  If I want something sweet I will eat cereal with honey, or Corn Flakes with Bananas.

Plain old Cheerios, the original flavor.  Add milk and sugar and it is the best thing ever.

I am also a Cheerios fan, as a matter of fact sometimes I eat them right out of the box as a snack smile

Yes!  Also fried in butter until just a little browned then salted. My mom used to make those for a treat.  Wonderful.

My favorite cereals are plain Cheerios,  honeyed puffed rice Kashi,  and Special K. I like to add dried cranberies, fresh berries, or peaches w/ vanilla soymilk but no added sugar.  Sometimes I have a bowl very late at night but more often I eat it in the morning about 3 times a week w/ yoghurt.

I love cranberries but hardly ever eat them even though I should  I guess I've gotten into a rut:)  I also am going to try the vanilla soymilk I've heard so much about .  Thanks

I enjoy hot oatmeal with fruit and almonds as a breakfast meal, but will also eat it as a snack.  I love having it with juice and a muffin as well, but usually just with a cup of coffee.  You probably aren't missing much on this one, but it is healthy for you.

We don't have many boxed cereal options in Peru, but our favorite breakfast is Swiss Muesli. You make it with oatmeal, yogurt and chopped fresh fruit and garnish with nuts, raisins or flax seed. We eat it almost everyday and never get tired of it! You can sweeten it with honey or stevia.
