   It's National Preparedness Month are you sure you are ready for what could happen in your area?
   
   Earthquakes, fire, flood, hurricane, microburst, impassable roads, terrorists, etc., are you as prepared as you would want to be if one or more of those situations called for you to be prepared as well as you might be?

   Sad to say, but I am not. The most I have is a wind up radio. I keep reminding myself to be more prepared (like getting a first aid kid, stocking up on canned goods, etc.), but keep procrastinating. Thanks for the reminder, though. I might finally get around to getting prepared.

      You are not alone.  Even though I am a Provident Living specialist, I am still adding and rotating items, as in the latest Hub on preparedness.

   I'm a very experienced camper.  My camping equipment is my emergency living readiness.  So, yeah, I'm always prepared.
   In fact, my camp "kitchen" came in very handy back in 2007 when we remodeled our kitchen, and had it stripped down to studs and subfloor.  Only the refrigerator remained operational--in the dining room!
   
   The only thing I have to remember to do is refresh and refill our bottles of emergency water every year.

      As you point out in your answer, we are preparing for the unexpected, and doing it as well as we can anticipate being prepared.  When you started your preparations, perhaps the kitchen remodel was not even "in the works" but being prepared helped.

   I don't think anyone is ever fully prepared, but Mr. B and I are certified in earthquake preparedness and storm watching. We have a small solar unit that can give us enough electricity to run an emergency radio and the kitchen lights. We have plenty of canned goods and our house is an underground shelter in itself. We need to restock our emergency water supply and get a new first aid kit, though. Thanks for the reminder.

      Nooooo. We got our certifications years ago when we were ham radio operators, so it didn't seem unusual.
