Writing blogs. Where to put them?

   I'm interested in maybe writing blogs but I would like advice on where exactly to post them. Own website? Or is there something like hubpages that will allow you to post a blog and earn revenue?

      You need to be ready to invest a bit of time if you want to blog for profit, and you should expect it to be a long-term investment as you most likely won't make any $$ for six months or more. Some people on HP build blogs for the sole purpose of generating backlinks to their hubs, and that's a good strategy too.
      
      Yes, there are sites that allow you to blog on them and share revenue. The ones that I've seen so far have been topic-specific. For instance, I write a lot about food, and although I don't use the sites, I know a few of them that allow you to create a blog through them. It may be a good way for you to test the waters and see if you enjoy blogging.
      
      If you want to start out with a full-fledged blog, I would not suggest Blogger or WordPress.com unless you are setting it up for the sole purpose of backlinks and want something quick and easy.
      
      If you're serious, you should consider finding a hosting company like GoDaddy.com, purchasing a domain name ($10 or less per year) and hosting services (couple of dollars a month) and then setting it up with WordPress.org.

   If you are new to blogging, you may want to start with a free Wordpress or Blogger (Google) blog. Blogger is easy to integrate with your Adsense account.
   
   If you get serious about blogging, you may want to have your own website, in which event you can set up Wordpress or Blogger to work with your domain name.

      It is not a simple matter to "set up Wordpress to work with your domain name." WordPress.com and self-hosted Wordpress are two completely different entities. If you start with a free WordPress.com blog, you need to start from scratch and build a new blog and move all of your content over if you eventually want to go the self-hosted Wordpress route. And in doing so, you will lose any organic backlinks and search engine cred you may have built up. In other words, although you don't have to write new content, you are starting from scratch for SEO purposes.

         It is better to make the correct choice from the start. I use Wordpress.org, provided through my website host. I have never used a free Wordpress.com blog.

         It would make more sense to start from scratch but create backlinks from the old site, and divert users to the new one.
         
         No sense in letting hard work go to waste.
         
         Personally I use Wordpress on my own domain. Blogger on free hosts!

         Exactly.  That's why I'm not a fan of free blogging sites at all. 
         
         Look at what happened to Today.com.  The owners sold the domain name for squillions, and moved all the blogs to a new site.  Fair enough, people didn't lose their content - but they lost two years of building backlinks and traffic, because there was no way to divert the old URL's to the new ones.  They're effectively starting all over again.
         
         If you're aim is to make money, much better to take the plunge and start with your own domain name from the start.
