My hubscore has gone down but traffic is going up

In the past two days, my hubscore has been at a record low, but my traffic and earnings have been at a high. Usually I have a hubscore in the 95-100 area. Lately, I haven't been able to devote much time to hubpages, so I wasn't surprised that the score started dropping. I figured that I was being penalized for not posting on Forums and not commenting on other people's hubs, and not writing new articles. But yesterday, there was a surge in traffic, which is continued today, all brought about by one keyword which seems to suddenly have picked up steam and has generated organic traffic from all the major search engines. I'm in fourth position on Google with the article whose title is that keyword. I somehow expected all this traffic, which seems to be earning me about four dollars per day, to have also translated to a higher hubber score, but, alas, no!

I have noticed that on occasion - there does seem to be a delay before it translates into higher Hubscore; sometimes three or four days.

Of course, that is a purely anecdotal observation!

Hi, Sufi. Thanks for sharing that observation! I'll let you know if it works out that way for me, too.

Hey Aya, I have noticed the same thing on some of my hubs. But, since traffic is going up, I don't worry about the scores going down. More traffic = more possible clicks which is better regardless of score. wink

Hope you're doing well and it was nice to see you. smile

Hi, Cagsil. Good to see that this is not an unusual phenomenon. I'm getting more traffic and more clicks, because of that one keyword, and in this sense I'm quite happy!

Hope your day is good, too!

I've never been able to figure out how these scores work. No idea what drives them or what effect, if any, they have on earnings. My Hub score is consistently in the 90's though I only have 1 hub with a 90+ score. I have 4 hubs with duplicate content (A re-hashing of articles I wrote elsewhere) On average I do a Hub a week and I'm rarely on the forums.
But like I said my Hubscore is still pretty good and my lack of earning any money remains consistent.
By the way Aya, I should have mentioned this somewhere but 12 months ago you were the first Hubber to follow me. Thanks *Big Hugs*

IantoPF, yeah, it's really hard to figure this out. The few times I got a 100 hubber score, I didn't seem to be earning anything that day!

Glad to be your follower! You have an interesting perspective on things.

HubScore has no effect whatsoever on earnings.  It has an effect on whether you get featured in some places within HubPages, which might give you a few extra links, but that's about it.

HubScore is only important to the ego!

Same exact thing for me, Aya.  No clue.  I gave up trying to figure out the scores. I score my hubs now by how many beers it takes to write one.  That's the only number I can rely on consistently.

Hi, Shadesbreath. Interesting scoring system. For me, it would be coffee. But maybe you should score them by how many beers they buy you!

I agree on lowered scores tongue mind you I slowed down some also as life's been tossing lemons and I've got to make lemonade hmm

Dame Scribe, yeah, me, too. I'm definitely not as active on HP as before, so maybe deserve a lowered score. On the other hand, business on my hubs has picked up, anyway.
