I have seen some articles on here about people who use blogs as a good source of income for themselves, and would like to do this myself.

I wonder how people manage to get their blogs to the place where they make money, how long it takes them, and what kind of things they do to make it work.

I'd love to hear thoughts from anyone. Thanks!

You can make money out blog, but it takes some time! I have a blog and I do get traffic, unlike hubpages where traffic is coming and well known, your own blog can take awhile to get up and running but it is possible.

You can check out blog success resource or problogger site for more info.

The same way you do with a hub, but with more work, more control and more variability.  I have had a bunch of blogs over many years and two of them do okay for earnings now.  In may case it seemed that once a blog got 5000 of more hits a month you could get good ads.  One of my low traffic blogs also earn quite well because it is in a small under-exploited niche with expensive adwords.

Yes, you can make money with a blog.  You need to choose a specific topic, not just blog about random subjects.  You'll also need to make a lot more promotion effort than at HubPages.

Others may disagree, but I noticed a big difference in traffic (without promotion) between having a blog on a free site (like blogger or wordpress.com) and having a proper ".com" domain name.

I have hubbed for a little while now, no real money yet. But my own site with affiliates has shown a profit with in the first two months. Niche + content + affiliate adspace = commissions. http://www.myhomebusinessservices.com/a … e-business

Very possible if you know what you're doing. There are many resources online to guide you. If you know how to do keyword research and are ready to put in some hard work in creating content + invest some money in your own blog sites, nothing stops you from earning a good income from blogging. Best of luck!

Thank you, you guys! This is what I want to do, but it's all so new to me. Until Hubpages, I pretty well thought it wasn't possible to make any money online, but now I am really realizing how possible it is, with a lot of hard work.

when it comes to blogging, it will that you a minimum of six month set up and start making money with it. in other words, you will set up the blog, build it by putting some useful content and send treaffic to the blog.

You can use google adsense to make money with your blog and by embedding affiliate links within the text.

in some few weeks, next week to be precised, i will post an article on how to start blogging using the free blog site call blogger.com

    Sounds good, Nig!

I actually do have three blogs, but haven't posted for nearly a year. I love blogging but before, I just did it for fun (worked full time then) but now would like to do it for fun and money!

You do the exact opposite of what I do in my blog: ramble about whatever with no reguard for grammer punctuation or human decency

I do a little bit of blogging, but it helps if you become apart of a blog community like Blog Engage or install the Comment Luv plugin on your Wordpress blog.

The best exposure you get with blogging is by networking with other bloggers. They can help offer you useful information and tidbits, but I haven't found this methods yet to be a particularly good way to make money unless you offer som stellar content about making money online like Matt Carter of MattsMarketingBlog.com.

Instead, I use Wordpress blog platforms for things like landing pages and review sites. Like little niche sites. That seems to be the hit use for it money-wise today.

Because blogs are brand spanking new, they require more backlinks than hubpages which is already an authority site. Both have the pluses and minuses, but a fresh new site will always take more work to get recognition.
