   I think the Patriots are back in form and playing great football at the right time of the year. This young defense has turned it around. Look at who they have beat in the last weeks. Jets, Steelers, and the Bears. They didn't just beat them, they puniished all three. Who do you like in the entire league?

      I am afraid that I really do not understand American Football. That said, I have sat down and watched it on TV here (Australia). I have heard of and seen the New England Patriots play, and seem to recall they won(?) Super Bowl?
      
      I do like the name The Patriots, so with my limited knowledge of your sport, I will have to say that yes, New England are the best NFL team.

      I think you would have to say the Patriots are the best team in the NFL. They have been not only beating teams, but destroying them, including two playoff contenders in the New York Jets and the Chicago Bears.

   They are one of the best team. Year in and year out there are those who are impressive with their records. This year, Atlanta and Patriots are leading the two conferences.

   They've smacked three teams who had glaring deficiencies, but I don't see them going all the way.  They could get to the SB, but almost all of the NFC contenders - New Orleans, Atlanta, Philadelphia, New York are better teams.

   Right now it's pretty clear that they're the best team in football. I have to disagree with Ron Montgomery -- none of the NFC contenders are even close to New England, with the possible exception of Atlanta. They've beat 3 consecutive quality teams, and they've been beating these teams in games that aren't even close. The game against the Bears yesterday was supposed to be the game of the week. Instead, the Patriots were up over 30 points at the half and won easily.
   
   In a league that has been mediocre all season, the Patriots are not just the best team, they are a level above everyone else. It hurts me to say that, because I hate the Patriots and Tom Brady, but no one can keep up with them right now.

      An injury-depleted Colts team was one errant pass away from beating them.
      
      Any defensive coordinator stupid enough to deploy the cover 2 defense against them will look foolish, but the smarter ones will exploit the deficiencies of New England's receivers by playing man and pressuring Brady.  The smashmouth NFC teams can do this.  Chicago has the personnel to do this, I'm shocked they didn't try.

   There are probably 8-10 teams that can contend with the Patriots if they play well enough! The obvious ones are Falcons, Saints, Giants, Eagles - but even teams like the jets, the bears (despite their losses) will challenge in the Playoffs. NE are playing very well, but you wonder if they are peaking too early - also the problem with winning so easily and not having Brady challenged could come back to haunt them - get a defense like the Giants or the Eagles against them and there will be a lot of pressure on Brady - will he be as good as he is when under a lot more pressure! The Jets didn't get near him and he destroyed them - count on the Jets defense on playing totally different should they meet again!

   Wasn't this supposed to be a rebuilding year for New England? The fact that they've come on strong lately concerns me because it might be a sign that they're melding and starting to really get their timing down on offense. They've beat their last two opponents -- against teams that are 18-8 on the season, by a combined score of 81-10. The only thing that can beat the Patriots right now is their own hubris. They are very capable of overlooking an opponent (the lost by 20 points to the Browns a month ago), but they are really pouring it on opponents right now.

   It must have been Randy Moss. Without him they look like a real contender. Imagine if he was playing his top ball with the Patriots right now. They are a scary team to see in the playoffs. Belichick is a great coach. This time around they have a run game as well as a good pass game with Deion Branch in the mix. Other than the Eagles, Saints & Falcons I don't see any other team stopping them.

      He's been a real cancer to the Vikings and Titans since leaving New England. The Vikings and Titans are 1-9 with Randy Moss this season. The situation has become so sour the Titans didn't even target Moss at all against the Colts in a game they lost by 2 points. He has no role on that offense.

         I am not sure if Randy Moss will be wanted in the offseason if there is no hold out. He might end up like Shaun Alexander, forced to retire early.

   I have to agree with DB Cooper. It wasn't like they played three teams that were below .500 They beat Pittsburgh, New York Jets, and now Chicago. The Steelers and Bears both lead their divisions and at the time of the Jet game, both teams were 9-2. Tom Brady is a great quarterback. But to be honest, this young defense has rose to the occasion. hey have gave up 10 points in their last two games. I am not a Patriot fan either. I like the Bengals and their depressing. Right now is the time to be playing your best ball and they are doing that and more. The Falcons and Eagles are my picks in the NFC. I don't think the Giants are consitent enough to go anywhere. The Saints are playing real good football and they have won 5-6 straight. Baltimore and Pittsburgh are tough teams year in and year out. I think it is between Philadelphia, Atlanta, New England, and Pittsburgh.

   I said the Patriots were the best team on a thread 6 weeks ago. I predicted a Pats vs. Saints superbowl.
   
   I was slammed by Jets fans for saying Pats would spank the Jets. And criticized by Vick fans for saying Brady was the MVP of the league.
   
   I'm feeling pretty good about my picks these days.

      The Jets had that week 2 win over the Pats to brag about back then. That's still the only thing they've got to brag about. They've lost every other game they've played against teams that are above .500, including getting trounced by those Pats in their second match-up. They've won some very close games against some very bad teams.
      
      Now it's clear the Patriots will get a bye and home field advantage throughout the playoffs, so it's hard to not make them the favorite. The Falcons and Saints are the only teams in the NFC that have any semblance of consistency, so I'll say one of them will play the Patriots in the Super Bowl.

       I like the Eagles chances in the playoffs, they would need to win the division however because there are other teams like the Saints & Green Bay Packers that might get in because of a better record or head to head matchups.
