Just a thought :)

I am ending my personal forum ban temporarily. I had a thought last night as mama and I were talking about the sites we are members of and the forums these sites host.

I say that the mods of HubPages come in and shut the forum down for a day or so and do a little clean up of the repeat threads and threads that are buried so far down no one responds to them anymore.

    O'well it's just a thought.

Any thread that is older than 2 or 3 months that have no replies(or no replies in that span) should be eliminated. wink

Nor should people comment to threads that are several months' old. hahaha

Closing would be easy for them, as deletion is not necessary.

Closing would be the easiest way to clean up the repetitive threads, the threads that are so old they are no longer replied to, the threads as Cags said that have no replies at all and another thought on that note to clean up the topics that have no threads at all.

Deletion is sometimes necessary in order to maintain a fresh clean look on the forums. When you have threads started because people don't look for the threads in which they are wishing to comment in or be apart of. It's human nature I suppose to not look for things before acting.

As I said it is just a thought and probably not something that will ever take place but as I am sure that many hubbers whom participate in the forums quite frequently will agree with me here that the clutter and repeats and everything else I have said are getting a bit annoying or ridiculous.

Again it is only a thought

I wouldn't advocate simple deleting old threads, but rather storing them on some archive disk somewhere.

Like Pinky said, we were discussing this last night. We have been really following the Google thing and to us this just makes sense. You go back to threads that haven't had any activity and that are not educational for learning how to do something within HubPages and remove them.

There are pages and pages of unanswered threads that could easily be wiped away.

I think it's more important for admin to deal with cleaning up (or eliminating) poor quality Hubs right now.  And the launch of the new Ad Program.

I agree that they need to be working on the new ad campaign and cleaning up the hubs, but this is another area that needs to seriously be addressed.

We can all do our part and bring it to the staffs attention by hub hopping and flagging. They are seriously trying to make the site terrific and we need to step up and give them a hand.
