Can we have an audio capsule just like we have video capsule?

This has been suggested before, and we generally give the same response.  If there were an audio-sharing site that operated similarly to YouTube or Google video, where the content is already policed for copyright violations/adult content, etc, we might consider it, but allowing users to simply upload audio files poses a number of problems, copyright concerns being one of them, another being that it would be extremely difficult to moderate.  It would suck up a lot of resources, both in terms of me having to listen to the audio files all the way through when a hub was flagged, to make sure that it was in compliance with our terms, and also in terms of the space all the files would occupy on our servers.

Thank you Maddie, for explaining the issue. That is why I was wondering if it would be feasible in the first place!

    Heck yeah it is.

I almost had a solution via archive.org and their java based embedded player. But alas, the video capsule was confused by it.

I am bumping this up for once.

I would really like to know what fellow hubbers think about an "audio" capsule, so that we can also use audio clips.

Is it possible (and feasible) by any chance?

Sidd that sounds like a good idea to me.!
A does raise some questions though.
If you upload from your computer, how would you control content.
      what format would you use.

        Hi Ag,

That is what I meant by the "feasible" part. And I agree with Paraglider that video samples don't really look great when all you want to play is an audio clip.

I am rather tech-challenged, but can we have a solution similar to how we put the pics in a forum posting. That is, host the pic somewhere else (like Flickr), and just provide the link.

That begs another question: Are there any sites that host audio clips??

Ok I realise that utube is not ideal but you don't have to watch the video . You can be reading the Hub or comments and still listen to the audio. You can even go off onto another page and the audio will still be playing. cool

Yes Ag, I am also using Firefox.

I guess we will have to do with your idea till Hubpages admn see any merit in this!!

                  Hi Ag,

I tried this way, but without success. I might be doing something wrong. Can you tell me how you do this (uploading audio via You Tube) ?

I like the concept, but I am certain there are pros and cons.sad

I've asked this a few times too. I have a few classic guitar hubs that are crying out for audio samples. The 'solution' of using a video capsule with wallpaper is very inelegant.

It depends on taste doe's it not, I have seen some very attractive slide shows with audio!

I meant technically inelegant, to have to have video when all you want is sound.
