Compare human athletic ability to that of other animal life.

      We're not nearly as strong or quick as many animals, but we are quite impressive over long distances, if properly trained. I'n not sure many land animals can run 26 miles. Or maybe they just don't want to!
      I know that doesn't compare to the feats of migratory birds or homing salmon, but neither of them are very good at loading a truck.

         I don't know that "loading" a truck takes much athletic ability.
         The problem with us being able to run 26 miles is that if a "predator" wanted us, it would catch.us within the first 10 ft! lol.
         We humans are cunning, not athletic.

   I've always found it interesting that most species including humans, mammals, birds, fish  and even invertebrates have similar organs that do similar things, including sensory organs, digestive organs, respiratoy systems, etc.
   So they seem to be evolved or created, take your pick,  similarly.
   
   (I so wish I had the stamina, patience and generous giving nature of a cow.)

      ...but what about athletic ability?
      We're slow, we react slowly, we are weak etc..
      We've used our "brains" not our bodies to survive.
      I watch MMA (mixed martial arts) and it became apparent that we humans, if matched with any other "animal" our size, are, physically, so slow and weak that if matched with them in battle, we'd lose emphatically!

         That might be a good thing.
         We could have murdered  and extinguished every animal species by now, if we had been able to outdo them physically.

   I would definitely compare a domesticated human to a domesticated animal. Dog or cat - small bursts of energy and enthusiasm punctuated by much rest with food served on plates usually from the efforts of another.
   
   In our true state (as much as I can imagine it) I might compare us favourably to wolves: survival enhanced by operating from a social pack, tenacious ability to hunt, running endurance over long distances. I think if we were naturally "slow to react and weak" we would not have endured to the point where we could be so lazy and domesticated
