I Received the following message via email:

Your Hub has been identified by our system as a violation of our Terms of Use.

Violation: Hub promoted through spam or abuse of other sites

This may include, but is not limited to:

    - Spamming of comments, forums, or profiles or by email or chat

    - The creation of spam blogs or spam pages on other sites to promote this Hub

    - The use automation tools to do any of the above

I have done nothing whatsoever different with this hub. I have NOT promoted it by any emails nor have I promoted it via any type of spam blog. I am NOT a spammer and have done nothing even remotely similar to what I have been accused of.

And "Irrevocable"??!! I am falsely accused and given no recourse at all. Falsely accused and not even given a real reason.

Anyone else having a situation like this?

Thats the Leftists way... it comes with the territory.. you are writing on a site out of Berkley, Cali. That should tell you all you need to know. Could I ask, what was the hub about?

The hub was about growing plants hydroponically.

Your best course of action is to email team@hubpages.com.  They should be able to give you more information on the exact reason why your Hub was moderated.  Cheers!  big_smile

Did you use any sort of "mass submitter" service to "promote" your hubpages entry? That would result in the same thing.

It also says "Because of the seriousness of this transgression, we consider Hubs that were promoted through abuse to be irreparable.  They will not be republished."

Transgression??!! It really disturbs me how rude this notification is and how little information it gives.

Back up your hubs. Publish your content elsewhere if it is not acceptable here. smile

Thanks but I need to know what happened here as I dont want it to happen again. I feel very strongly that they should give me more info about my supposed "transgression". I emailed no one, I used no automated programs or processes of any kind. I linked to the hub in only 3 places 1. Another hub, 2) An established Squidoo lens (Over a year old and not spam in any way), and 3. On a blog I own and have run for 3 years which is exactly on topic and also is in no way spam. Those are absolutely the only places I have ever linked to that hub from

It may be helpful if you look at the following thread.

I am sorry for the trouble you are having.

I have a somewhat off topic suggestion: rather than linking to your hub, which now seems to be frowned on. You should use your hubs to link to your sites and other outside projects. One of the main uses of hubpages is that you can pass on page rank to your more valuable outside projects.

Hope you are able to resolve the violation issue. Back up your hubs just in case others fall victim too.

I guess you should contact admin and make your stand clear, ask them to show where there hubs have been replicated using automated tools so you can find out if someone else is doing it and file a DCMA complaint against the offender. This is what I think you need to do before you pack your hubs... it will be a problem anywhere on the net. Good luck to you.

How to find if some else is doing that and/or file a DMCA against someone who promote "my site/links" using all the methods mentioned in the mail? The answer will help me and many like OP so that we can keep watch, at least (we are totally helpless to do anything about it as far as I know.).

Thank you. In fact that is my suspicion. It looks like a third party could potentially get your hubs closed down by doing things like this. Also the notification doesnt say the content was replicated. They are saying that it was being promoted via spam methods.

The only logical thing to do, IMHO, is email staff directly to find out what the issue is.

This type of experience has become more and more common at HP. A lot of hubbers who were once prolific are now gone because of such missteps by HP.

I have talked back and forth with the staff on this issue and it is now cleared up. I was very pleasantly surprised at the attention this was given by the staff. I am concerned that something like this could happen but I was pleased with how I was treated by the staff.

I have always had a pleasant experience when I have had to interact with the Hub Team.

Maybe an apology to the staff is in order here? smile

bgpappaposted 12 years agoin reply to this

Depends on the situation to determine whether an apology is needed.  If the Hub was incorrectly moderated, then the message was wrong and staff should apologize.

Most shocking is that staff responded on the forum, for that I give Robin credit.

        2. kentuckyslone profile image87
kentuckysloneposted 12 years agoin reply to this

Why should I apologize to anyone? I did nothing wrong. I did nothing to anyone to apologize about.

To be honest I never had any idea that the staff would have been so helpful. I first thought that coming to the forum I could get opinions and advice from others to help me figure out what had happened. In the future I will know to contact the staff instead of coming to the forum. I have been around on HubPages for more than 3 years but never had much reason to contact staff and have had very little dealings with the forum.

I did find out that a "third party" could effectively shut down a hub if they want to do so. I dont think that is a good thing at all.
