Having recently watched the film Limitless, and having read numerous articles and fiction books about the ancients I have begun researching the potential ability to use a greater portion of the human mind to achieve what we now consider impossible.
How do you feel about the idea of the untapped mind? Do you believe that the human mind at 100% use is capable of things such as telepathy, mind control, magic etc?
Or do you think this is nonsense?
Have you read about these topics and do you have any ideas to add?
This is a very interesting topic I believe and I am interested to hear different views.
I don't think it requires 100% use. Its seems to be more about the neural pathways that are firing up at any given time. If we have never used those pathways before then finding those pathways might serve to be a challenge but they are already there. Many people exist today who have such pathways that enable them to achieve such feats.
Everyone has them except some of us don't know how to light them up! So we live in the lighted pages of the brain rather than venture into the dark passages where we can't find the switch.
Imagine if we did know where all the switches were? Would we leave them on? I suspect not. We don't even do that now. Celia would be great at explaining what part of the brain does what. From what I remember however is when certain parts are fire up the other parts are not.
Oh and as an aside. I was kinda disappointed in that movie in that it was drug induced and that it focused on material gain and success with little or no emphasis on the internal growth in his awareness of 'what is'.
I share your interest.
Have you seen the series on savants? There is a lot of capacity we do not have access to that they do. Yes, I believe that within the next few years we will have another breakthrough in understanding the mind and gaining access to more of it.
It is guaranteed to be a bumpy road though, as access will probably include seeing our subconscious desires and not always liking what we see.
Carl Jung speaks of one person who had such an understanding of self and such courage that he lived out his inner wishes, which meant turning his back on a very normal life for something quite destructive to self, but deeply desired.
I have a friend who has a website dedicated to understanding self from every aspect one could think of. It is a massive piece of work with piles of scientific data. I have been wading through it for many years now. If you care to view it just type hedweb in to google.
Thanks, I will definitely check that out! It is such an interesting topic that is also a complete mystery. If we are lucky we might find out before our lifetimes are over!
Work done on understanding DNA and it's directives may bring us to an understanding well within our lifetimes. Apparently a lot of the research was slow in the past because of the need for so much number crunching.
The new super computers have changed all that, so we can expect exponential growth in the results coming back from research projects. A very exciting time to be living!
That could very well be the next evolutionary step. And a minor one at that.

Let's talk about the brain. Isn't it the most complex thing in the world? It is the generator of all ideas, thoughts, feelings, poetry, paintings, etc. My question is very simple ~ Do we really know how many atoms make up the brain?Thank you.
