I've seen other's blogs contain a link to a previous blog, but I can't see how to do that - is that all personal HTML knowledge and not a feature of HubPages? How can I do this?

First, we don't write blogs; we write hubs.  Someone may come after you with a rolled up manuscript and violence in their eye! smile

Right click and block in the text you want to be a link.  A small pop up window will appear, with a chain link picture in it.  Click that link and fill in the blanks.  Voila!  A link!

Thanks (I think I tried that though - do that in edit mode or no?) and, so, what are blogs?

Sorry - you must be in edit mode, both for the hub and for the text capsule where you want the link.

Blogs are substandard hubs, probably not worth writing and certainly not worth reading.  Mostly personal with little to no information capabilities.  They are something people outside HubPages publish because they don't know any better.  They are published only by people that can't write. big_smile

Seriously, though, HubPages expects hubs to be of magazine quality; something that you might find in a magazine.  Very short hubs (<500 words or so), hubs of primarily a personal nature, hubs with highly pixelated images and hubs written mostly to promote another site will all eventually be unpublished, as will hubs with very poor grammar or spelling.

You may want to read up in the learning center (link at the bottom of this page) - there is a wealth of information there about writing on HubPages and how to be successful.

And welcome to HP, by the way.  It's a great place to write.

I just tried that in both edit and regular mode and i get no such 'chain link picture' - does this not work with Mozilla - what am I doing wrong?

When you say " . . . published only by people that can't write" I'll assume you mean to say 'published only by people WHO can't write'.

Thanks for your swift assistance - I'll try the double edit mode.

Are you in "edit" for both the hub AND the pertinent text capsule?  The little chain link is in the upper edge of the capsule "box" and is normally dimmed out, but when text is blocked it shows up.  FF is what I use, same as you.

Incidentally, I skimmed your hub and determined that it is not a (shudder) blog.  It is a bona-fide hub.  Well done!

Thank you for your favorable review (now go back and read thoroughly and attentively).

When I am in edit mode for a text capsule and highlight a word or phrase I do see the chain link "show up", but it asks for a URL or suggests the hub - I'm interested to link a statement from one text capsule to a statement in another text capsule on the same page . . . I've seen this on other hubs, but I don't see how a specific text capsule will have a URL and if I click the suggested hub page how will that link to a specific comment in one particular text capsule?
