Slow loading pages and text and pictures still not saving properly

I use the internet with Firefox. All other websites seem to load just fine, my internet connection is pretty fast, but Hubpages is getting increasingly slower for me.

Also, the picture and text problem with not saving when working on a hub is still an issue. I add a picture, upload, put in a caption, save. The picture is gone. Redo the steps, save, still no picture. It gets frustrating, but eventually it sticks. This is not a constant problem but a regular one the past couple weeks.

Text. ugh. I really should start working in a word program. As of right now I am just CTRL-S on my new text, save the text capsule and then save the hub to make sure it "sticks". This way, when it doesn't show up as it doesn't on regular occasion, I don't have to re-type everything on text capsules that don't save.

I've added my comments about these problems in past threads. I was hoping the update would have addressed these. I know I'm not the only one having these issues. What is the status on trying to get capsules to function better. There wasn't the problem before, so it's something that can be fixed right?

Text capsule isn't saving. I updated a hub yesterday, thought it saved, but saw today it didn't. I had to reupdate it, and it still didn't save.

I also agree that using Firefox parts of HubPages is now SUPER slow, whereas other websites are fine.

Edit: I think it's because the it now takes forever for the "loading" sign to go away, and we push done editing before the hub is ready. But, at the same time, it never popped up yesterday, which I guess is why it didn't save right. And, I just got an error trying to re-save today while waiting for the 'loading' sign to go away. I guess it took too long and the error occurred. I'm still waiting for the 'loading' sign to  go away.

Edit2: I keep getting the error to push edit and save again. I just keep doing it, and have had the error 3 times. It is taking forever for the 'loading' sign to go away when I push edit on the capsule. I'm about to give up.

Edit3: Tried 2 more times, for a total of 5 tries, and it never saved. When I realized that there was a loading sign when just opening the capsule, I couldn't get that to go away so that I could try resaving.

I finally got the text to save, but it won't save with the link in it. Same problem I was having months ago in this thread

Before the Hubpages were changed there was a problem saving the photos.  I would load the URL from images on Yahoo or Google and then the HubPage logo would just keep turning with no picture.  Then I decided to stop loading the URL and copy and save the picture to my computer.  Worked nicely and if that HubPage logo still kept turning without a picture, I would check to make sure that the picture was in the HubPage requirement of jpeg, jpng or gif.  I got so frustrated once that I typed gif behind the search image request in the Yahoo image box and got pictures that stayed.  However, the choices were limited.

I also had the problem of seeing the photo saved on the edit page and then when I published, the photo was not there.  Now I edit the photo, load the image from the computer or web using the computer option to save to not have to look at the Hubpage logo constantly turning.  Then I clicked on done editing before reordering the content capsules and the photo is saved to the article.  Then I edit again and go to the content capsule and place the photo where I would like to have it and click on reorder.

You know that the picture will appear on your article if you take those steps.  Text should be in the caption of the photo and should be readable, that way you know that the picture in the reorder box will take and will appear on your article.

Sunstreeks and Whitney, the problems you are describing don't sound like issues related to firefox but more likely --

    1) networking issues (somewhere between you and the hubpages servers)
    2) congestion on our database server slowing save times
    3) the hub tool in a bad state from previous errors, possibly related to #1 or #2 (try shift refreshing the page)

I'm sure these kinds of problems are frustrating.  We are always working on improving the reliability of our service (and in general the responsiveness of the site improved significantly with the latest release).

We did have a near record number of new hubs published yesterday, which leads me to believe that the problem you both experienced were either transient or isolated.  Are you still having the same problem?

I'm not sure about the congestion on your database server, but I tried the one capsule yesterday and it didn't save, and throughout a period of several hours today, and it hasn't saved with the link.

I've closed down firefox, re-logged into firefox, and re-logged into HP, and still had the problem. Same with restarting the entire computer and just plain saving the hub and trying to re-edit the capsule altogether.

I'm still having the problem, yes. I can't save the capsule with the link in it. I'm going to go home and try it on IE, which is what I had to do the last time this happened. It worked fine on IE just not Firefox.

It's a problem that happens a lot, more on Firefox than on IE.

When you say you can't save the capsule with the link in it, what does that mean?  What type of capsule, and what exactly is the content of the capsule?  If you can describe an exact series of exact that lead to the problem, we can try and reproduce it.  Without that, it's very difficult ...

I added text to the capsule and it saved, but when I put a link within the text it wouldn't save. The 'Loading' sign wouldn't go away.

The link is for another hub.

I have had the problem before, hence the other thread.

Oh, and I just tried it again, and it still didn't work. It's been 8 hours since I first tried this morning.

I had no problems saving hubs yesterday, as I published two, this one is one of those two. It's just when I went to add the link within the hub, it won't save. I'm going to try it when I get home from work on IE.

Which hub, which capsule, and which hub are you trying to link to?  In general putting links into text capsules seems to work, so it must be some peculiar circumstance that is causing this ...

I was trying to add my 'Are Henna Tattoos Safe' hub to the other 'Make and Apply Henna Tattoos' hub.

I was successful at adding the link when using IE. Again this is the exact same thing that happened last time. Tried on Firefox all day and it wouldn't work, but was successful with IE on the first try.

All my youtube videos have disappeared on pages I am not editing.

I didn't have any problems with hubs I published earlier today, but the latest one I am working on Unique Baby Shower Games: Family Name Meanings (unpublished) I typed in my text in to the first text capsule. I got stuck at a point and every time I tried to put in a space to start a new word it wanted to add it to the last word I typed. re-tried 3 times. Gave up and then pushed save to try and get out of the capsuleand get back in. All of the text I had just written did not save..

So the problem is sporadic, but there.

Gonna try again, will reply back if its an issue again.

Okay. Finally realized it might be easier if I just start typing things in word. =P

Re-pasted my text into the first text capsule. When I saved this time, it stuck, but if I go back in to edit, even a minute later, all of the text disappears. Work is gone.

I wanted to bring this up again... I've been loading for about 15 minutes while trying to save a text capsule. It wouldn't save with the link inbedded in the text, so I took it out, and it still won't save.

Again, the link is for another hub.

I was experiencing that endless loading and what I did was to delete temporary internet files - delete cookies, delete files and clear history, restart the pc and then get back to business as the system loads new temporary internet files. It worked for me, it may or may not work for you.

I finally got the capsule to load when I restarted the internet browser. I still can't get it to save with the link though. Guess I'll have to add that when I get home.

I have had the same issue, where I load a pic, add a caption and it vanishes.  Only once in a while though.  My bigger problem is that my stuff moves around after I publish it.  I have things arranged one way, and after I publish it, the pics are moved around, and I have to re-edit it and fix it.

Anna, I have that problem to with pictures once in a while. It sucks.

It's even worse when the capsules move all about after you've published, or pushed done editing.

Paul, has anyone looked into why text capsules aren't saving links within the text on Firefox on Mac?

Or is it just the computer that I'm using? It's a new iMac, I believe.

I don't have any problems doing it on my PC at home.

This morning Hubpages has been very very slow for me. Text capsules are taking forever to load and save. My computer froze while I was trying to save an Amazon capsule.

I don't think it's my computer, because I've been online paying bills and doing other things and everything else has been very perky.
