Help! I posted a hub which uses extensive Bible passages. What I have written is original, but uses the passages to support the other material. I explained that to the hubpages board/panel/chieftains/gods yet their response wasn't clear to me and I was stuck with a duplicate red mark -- ouch.
I would imagine there are others who quote Scripture (which I don't believe falls under any copyright laws) so duplication would come up on passages, even though the information surrounding the passages is different and unique.
I have a hub in which I quote a lot from the Bible. But your elucidation of the quotes and unique material should out weigh your quotes to be considered unique work.
If you need to use long passages.. quote reference numbers and paraphrase the scripture ..so that you don run into trouble.
Using links to online Bibles may also help .. MHO
Duplicate content is NOT an issue of copyright.
Basically, duplicate content is seen by search engines as bad, so any content that appears more than once on the internet, whether you wrote it, hold the copyright or for any other reason, is duplicate.
If, for instance, you published the same article on your blog and then on Hubpages, the Hubpages copy would be considered a duplicate.
The only thing you can do is make sure the duplicate content is minimal - basically add more of your own words to the verses - OR place the verses as a picture so they won't be picked up as text.

So, they claim that my poem is a duplicate content. HubPages, are you serious? I hope no one on the internet is taking and stealing my fantasies and creative ideas. Nobody has a cable attached to my brain. The only thing is that I put a quote in a callout capsule and the poem was about 260 words in...

I wrote my first hub a few days ago. To my surprise, it was labelled duplicate content. I contacted Team HubPages about the matter because this was my original work. Now it turns out someone actually posted the full content on their Blogger account. I am now following up the issue and considering...

When quoting from the Bible to clarify a point, or to prove a point, why is it considered DUPLICATING someone else's work? All writers that use the Bible MUST quote from the Bible, to make and prove their point!I MUST quote from the Bible in EVERY paper, so do other writers that may write on...

Hi Everyone. I am new to HubPages so am open to any and all suggestions. But I also have a question. Are the hubs you post totally unique to HugPages or are you posting your original work that you have also posted elsewhere on the web? Thanks in advance for your responses.Julie

Will quoting the Bible result in being marked duplicate on Hubpages? One of my hubs is about how in the book of Matthew Jesus speaks about the Law and how it should be upheld. Naturally I have copied a significant number of verses and then commented on them. My comments out number the...
