I have a number of articles that were published on another site.  Many of these can be permanently removed, and I am wondering if I can remove them and then publish them on this site instead.  Would this be considered producing duplicate content?  I am not sure, but would like to know before I move to transfer them over.

Here's what is classified as duplicate content.

Yes, I did read that information, but am still unclear.  If an article is removed from the web, what I am trying to find out is whether it can later be published as a new article on this site.

Yes if it has been removed from the other site it can be published here. Be warned however, that removing an article does not take it out of Google's index, so it might be an idea to have it ready prepared for publication here, and email staff first to say that you have removed it from its other place. Then it is up to them whether or not they will allow publication while it is still indexed (but removed) elsewhere.

If you don't ask, you are at risk of having your new hubs unpublished as duplicate content, though they will get re-published on manual review, whenever that happens.

Thanks so much.  What is the email address for the staff on this site?

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure its staff@hubpages.com

My head has been going a bit funny lately. I wrote this to someone last night and it didn't look right. But I think it is.

You can double check in the learning center. The link for there is at the foot of every hubpage, including this one.

The email address I use is 'team@hubpages.com' but for this problem/question you don't need it. Simply use the Google URL removal tool to de-index the URL's of any articles you have unpublished elsewhere, and then in 24 hours you can republish them wherever you like without them being viewed as duplicate content:

I knew it didn't look right!

      team@hubpages.com

I think I am losing it. Thanks, glad I put a sort of disclaimer in my post now.

You should also be aware that if thieves have stole in and published it anywhere they will effectively be the owners as soon as you delete the original.  Once you have done that you have no proof that you published first.

Make sure it has not been copied before deleting the originals.

Never thought of that AND many of my articles HAVE been stolen...so you have convinced me to just let sleeping dogs lie.  Thanks for the heads up!!
