Made a mistake in the title of the forum.  I hope reposting it is ok.

I just wrote a hub about the end of the world in 2012.  However, what I did not put into the hub, was the number of times the end of the world was predicted.
Googled it, and the most number of times was 242.  That is a pretty big number.

I think the end of the wrold has probably been predicted many more times in mankind's history.  It is not only Christianity which has predicted the end.  Many religions and traditions have such a belief.

I used to be a Jehovah's Wintess.  This religion alone has predicted the end about eight times, first for 1874, then 1914, 1925, then I think 1935, then 1974.  Then it was supposed to come before the generation who were adults in 1914 had entirely passed away, which of course, they now have.  The dates pass without event, and so a new one is set.

I'm going to keep sticking to science and not prophecy.

That is better.  I did look it up on google and it was predicted over 400 times.
I went back to the hub and the administrator told me I had make a mistake.
So, it is not in publication right now, but when I looked at it I wrote a comment in it and it worked.  That does not make any sense to me.  If it is not published, how can the comment box be open?

I did not see that but did see your rather misinformed hub on God and the Big Bang.

Don't you mean Big Bang OR God?   tongue

Yes, I got the title of the hub incorrect, but the content is still misinformed.

Watched an interesting programme about this a few nights ago. It was Professor Stephen Hawking's theories on how the Earth, our solar system and ultimately the entire Universe may come to an end. He offered one theory (of several) that in around 3 billion years, the sun will have expanded enough to cause all the water on Earth to evaporate, thereby ending all life. A couple of billion years later, it will have expanded enough to entirely consume the burned out rock that was once Planet Earth.

I am glad that I probably won't be around to experience it... lol

I am seriously worried now.  I am not looking forward to that time,   5 billion years may seem like a long time, but it will soon come, especially as the older we get, the quicker it seems to go.

In numerology, 12/21/12 is 3/3/3. This could be the big kahuna. 354 shopping days left on the Mayan calendar!smile

And 3/3/3 is half of 666, the number of the beast.  As well as being the winter solstice, it is the first time in 26,000 yeas since the Sun has been at the centre of the allignment of the planets in our solar system.  Perhaps Christmas should be brought forward this year.  I could face the end of the world, as long as I get my Christmas presents first.

Good point, Uninvited Writer. I thought at first you were talking about my post ( yikes) ) and then I realised what you meant...

Sorry,  still  new at this,  but it has a problem so it went unpublished, so it is not published right now.  I corrected the errors, but it is going to take 72 hours before it is published again.  So, no no ....oh well

The world will end one day and that is certain. We just don't now when and when it does I hope humanity would have developed the technology by that time to move from one habitable planet to another in our galaxy.

One last post for the night   ...

That Black hole in the center of our galaxy has a gravitational pull on everything within the galaxy.   even light rays.
Even those light rays emited from our sun.

The back side (that which is furthest away from the black hole) of the sun is least affected by THAT gravitational force.
It just so happens that every seven years or so, the sun goes through a period of massive solar actavity. What is going to happen when the earth is lined up (in the sights, so-to-speak) with that side of our sun least affected by THAT gravitational pull of the center of out galaxy?

Sure! we will be OKay;  but what about all of our communication satalites?

Just turn them all off and what is going to happen?

Life on earth as we know it; would definately come to an end, "IF" just onc solar flare, directly hits "them" satalites which we have come to depend upon.

The earth is going to be here for a long long time, but concerning those things that we have become dependant upon ????

       Very fragile indead.

End of the world concept, works on the weak minded because the fear of God  motivates them greater than love. It gains socially religious memberships greater than thinking for your self,

It's led by wolves in sheep clothing, who cry wolf, because people soon forget before they realize they are in it too deep to call it what it is, a fake cry.

Very little if nothing at all considering we are 27,000 light years away from that black hole.

Just some clarifications in numerology 12/21/2012 = 11 which is a master number associated with enlightenment. Also, the planets are not lining up in this date. Pull up an astrology chart for the date and you will see the planets scattered all over. What the alignment is, is a totally natural cycle where our solar system is rotating around space just as the earth rotates around the sun. We are returning to a cosmic starting point called the Sacred Tree, a specific spot found in the Milky Way.
What I find interesting is that in the astrological chart for this date- the solstice occurs (Sun entering into the sign of Capricorn) at 11:11 GMT and there is an astrological aspect (specific distances between planets that form a pattern) called a Yod, or 'finger of god'. This aspect in itself is fairly rare, but the planets involved make this particular Yod even more rare. Symbolically speaking, the planets involved speak of a breakdown of governments, heavy changes, mind expansion, balance and enlightenment.
Even for those who do not follow such things, it is still quite an interesting combination of connections. I'm very curious about what will become of our planet and people over the next few years.

everyone shud think that everyday is an end time. just like the end of the world is uncertain, man's life is indeed also. being (ethically) prepared takes away all the worries and uncertainties. everyday is a challenge to be surpassed and an opportunity to prove our worth for what we call eternity.
