Hub Score is horrible

   I am not saying I am the best writer by no means, but I don't think my hubs are that bad. Can anyone tell me why most of hubs are under 70? I just did a hub earlier today, and it's at 48 and I thought it was very informative.  Its on weather .

      First, all Hubs start out at with a score of about 50.  It takes time for a Hub to find its correct level.
      
      If you joined way back at the beginning of HP but haven't been around much, you may have missed out on some of the changes that have happened. Some points to note:
      
      - you need to aim for at least 400 words for a Hub
      - you can't link to your "latest" or "best" Hubs in a Hub, only to your other Hub on the same subject. http://hubpages.com/learningcenter/Mode … r-Products
      - all content must be original, not appearing anywhere else on the internet, even if it belongs to you.
      
      All these things will affect your Hubscore.
      
      I wrote a Hub about optimizing your Hubs to make money (there's a link in my profile), you might find it helpful.  You say you can't do Amazon yet you have Amazon ads on your Hubs - why? 
      
      I assume you've signed up for the HPAds program (which includes eBay).

   IGNORE scores completely. They are close to meaningless.
   
   ALL new hubs start with low scores. It takes views and time to build them up to a decent score.
   
   And I have hubs in the 90s which barely earn me a cent and hubs in the 60s which earn well.
   
   The scoring system is just there to stop spammers by turning their links nofollow.

   Most hubs start off with a low score - usually around 48/52.  The only way around this is to write it and then not publish it for a few days.  The score will rise for some mysterious reason.  But really, there isn't any need to worry about the score at which your hub starts.
   
   I did take a look at two of your other hubs - one about your Golden Retrievers and one about Etiquette for Illnesses.  I wonder if they are maybe a little short?  If you are looking for a higher score, this may be affecting it.  However, your traffic won't depend on your hub score, it's just an internal HubPages thing.

      The longer you leave it unpublished, the longer it won't get Google traffic for.

         And I find a published hub gains ground pretty quickly, quicker than it does if left unpublished.

   I noticed most of mine start at about 48, it bothered me a first but now those same post are in the uppers 70's a few days later.  So I guess I won't let it bother me and continue trying to improve me writing style.

   thanks for all your replies guys.. I am just trying to earn more than 10 cents a day here.  Getting discouraged. I've actually been a member here for 6 years not 3 months. I had to change my reg information, so I never earn more than 10 to 20 cts a day. My highest paying hub is the cervical cancer one, but still, we are talking 5 cts a day or so. I am trying to figure out how people are making 50 a day. I would be happy with 5 bux a day at this rate.  I cant do Amazon because my state laws prohibit it.  any ideas?  Or anything you guys can think of I can improve on?  thank you all

      Read read read. There are some great hubbers around who've written in depth guides to earning here. There are a few links on my profile too.
      
      The older your hubs get, the more traffic you'll get. You also need to learn about keywords and choosing good topics.
      
      Don't stress about Amazon - few people earn well through it unless they know what they're doing. You'll earn better through Adsense/HP Ad Program anyway.

      What happened?  It's a shame if you lost aged Hubs, because age has value on the internet.  Wasn't there any way for you to claim your existing Hubs?

   I agree with Judy's comment too. Let your article 'steep' as mentioned. I highly recommend that you don't let the scores 'define' your abilities we all arrived here at one time or another and ran into the same experience. It takes time to build your site and regular traffic to arrive manage your time with writing and promoting and most of all, enjoy yourself.
