   Nobody cares because Don King corrupted a great sport to such infamy that, despite how many have tried to save it, its credibility fell to that of the WWF and on to the WWE, etc.
   
   Now, because the existence of "pro" wrestling and how completely ridiculous that is, coupled with the evisceration that Don King and his cohorts put boxing through, a truly awesome spectator sport has been completely ruined.
   
   Many look to cage fighting as the new hope, at least it SEEMS legit, but, in the  end, they all end up in a ball on the mat, going for wrestling holds (of the legitimate kind dating back to ancient Greece, which, sadly, is a sport that died out because its boring to watch).
   
   So, the art of boxing, is ruined and, until some completely new and totally transparent new boxing system emerges that can not only provide TOP quality fighters (and attract them), boxing is dead and will remain so. You can thank greed and commercialism for ruining it on any kind of large scale. Which is sad, because I LOVED watching the great heavy weights. Come on, Ali, Frazier, even that idiot Tyson! That was awesome. Then it died.

      Boxing definitely is not dead. Check the neilson ratings, HBO ratings and of course ppv figures before you say such a thing. Boxing is only mainstream in 20 states in America but in many countries it is the number 1 or 2 sport including Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom.

         I'm not hating on it. Not at all.
         
         I'm just saying, it USED to be mainstream. In the 70s and 80's EVERYONE knew who the heavyweight champ was, etc.
         
         Yes, some of the loss came from the fact that back then there were only four or five television networks. But, I say, most of the decline in popularity amongst the masses is because of the corruption.
         
         The NFL is still popular. More so even, despite the proliferation of options. The NBA got MORE popular, proving people LOVE sports. But boxing is no longer in the public view.
         
         Not because it's not an amazing sport. But because it lost, literally, all of its credibility. The heavy weights are still fixed, and everyone knows it. The only names anyone knows are the light and welter weights because, every so often, some of those guys fight so hard they get recognized while the greedy promoters keep trying to recreate (manufacture) "Frazier vs. Ali" or "Tyson vs. Hollyfield." There's all kinds of belts and divisions... Frankly, its a business being poorly run by idiots who just want to keep their mansions and "names."
         
         Which is fine. It's clearly working for them. A little self-sustaining world that exists in its own vastly reduced bubble.
         
         Too bad. Because great boxing is amazing and beautiful. Just nobody is ever going to see it until it fixes itself. We're actually all waiting.
