I have started writing more short stories recently, but always seem to struggle with the tags. Anyone got any suggestions for the best sort of tags to use on fiction hubs?
Tags are specifically for related hubs to show up on your hub there on the right side. Simply select a few words or phrases that relate to your hub, and "supposedly" related hubs will show up, enhancing your hub at various levels. Don't overdo the tags.
CMHypno - Lift the keywords out of the short story. The key words will draw the targeted audience.
I haven't written much fiction, but for fiction, I would use the label fiction. I might also use the genre - romance, comedy, historical, etc. and maybe include the topic, such as trees or weddings.
I use short story, short stories and fiction. I think if someone is reading a short story, then short stories are probably what is wanted by that person.
I've only got one short story up at present, although I have had several up over the past year. I include 'short story' and 'fiction', which seem fairly common-sensical (that's probably not a real word..).
But I've also noticed that Google has surrounded the hub with adsense ads related to the story content, which is probably not unexpected, but in this particular case, the featured products/services have a wide appeal, and I'm pleased to see them there. So much so I subsequently added those thematic/contextual tags.
It's not Hub etiquette to promote hubs here, and I'm not. Just adding to the range of your replies. And I guess, suggesting you might like to consider what you could write into a story to achieve a similar contextual outcome.
I wouldn't worry too much about tags, it sounds like they are going to be removed in the near future.
The new layout which is currently being tested does not incorporate them.

If you got this week's newsletter, you'll see I mentioned three new podcasts we'e doing. One, which has yet to make its debut, is called the Fascinating Fiction podcast, and will consist of readings of short fiction stories on HubPages (both by Hubbers who are willing to record mp3s and...

I feel concerned that the reason google may prefer ehow as opposed to hubpages, is because there is an abundance of poetry and short stories. I am not by any means saying that those who publish the short stories and poetry are not good, but they are not usually searchable or high market. I...

I truly love the short story, and often wonder why there aren't more authors in the genre. Is it a lack of interest by the readers, or the writers, or both? Am I wrong, and why? Any thoughts on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Let's support our own efforts by reading each other's short stories, then leaving a comment at the bottom of the hub (pro or con). I have three stories posted at jfrankdunkin.hubpages.com. They are, "The Baroness of Haut De Cagnes", "Recess, the Podium Light", and...

How well do poems and short stories do on HP?I noticed a while back somewhere that HP staff had mentioned that creative writing such as poems and short stories don't do as well as informational pieces. I'm curious to know about the earnings of some of the people who publish a lot of these. Do you...
