Removing Hubs to Increase Traffic?

   Once again, I find myself at the will of the Google machine. This latest drop in traffic has done a number on my earnings, so my question to those of you who've been writing here at hubpages for a while stands as such: Does removing old and unpopular content increase your credibility with Google? Has anyone actually removed old hubs and seen an increase in traffic?

      I've removed old hubs that didn't receive traffic. They were basically HP tutorials. Yes, my traffic did increase after that but whether this was the reason - I'm not sure.

      Tried removing a few. No difference at all.  Either they get traffic or they don't.  Many have suggested trying all sorts of things but who knows.  We are manipulated by Google, not the other way around.

      I find it difficult to believe that removing old hubs or hubs with lower following is going to help increase your traffic income. I believe income is based on the number of hubs one writes in the month,and not necessarily on the number of hits you get on that hub. If a person happens to click on one of the ads attached to your hub, that's where a bonus is really generated.

         Does the frequency and the amount of hubs published each month really affect traffic? For the most part, I've been publishing at a consistent rate, but the last month or so, I've slowed down a bit to work on other avenues. Just seems pretty odd that Google would stiff me so bad for not keeping consistency in my publishing rate.

            No I do not believe this at all. I only have a few hubs and publish very sporadically, however, my views have been increasing and are now at a steady high regardless of whether I publish or not.

      Just the opposite, I have seen increases on older and slower trafficked hubs the longer they are published.

      Did you lose traffic from a handful of big traffic-drivers, or did the traffic drop occur evenly across all of your Hubs?

         My big traffic driving hubs are receiving a little less than half of what they were producing. Hubs with moderate traffic also dove to much lower numbers, so I'd say the loss is fairly evenly spread.

            Sounds like your account is plunging the same way as many hubbers here have experienced.
            Check your traffic sources, and I'll bet views from Google.com are way down from normal.
            In my experience, removing hubs makes no difference whatsoever.
            My account has been plunged since last August.
            With any luck, your traffic will return in a few days, just as suddenly as it left.
            Meanwhile, there is nothing you can do but wait, or do what I did and start new subdomains.
            They will go up and down too (although my niche accounts have not plunged yet, only my mixed accounts) but at least it won't be as devastating as losing everything at the one time.

   I have removed around 40 hubs over the last six months or so and it didn't make any difference to my low traffic at the time.  My traffic spiked back last month and then fell again and is currently spiking again, but I don't know whether removing the hubs helped cause this or not.

      It's good to hear that you're bouncing back! Now I just wish we could tell if doing so really made the difference. oh well... dang google.

   I went back and reviewed my pages, and discovered they were not very good.  So I deleted them all.  Now my traffic has got slightly worse!

   When it comes to search engine traffic, you can never deceive google, and if you do, it will not go for a longer period before you'll be apprehended.
