I got a new Blackberry in January 2012.
In April, I was relaxing in thet backyard with the phone on the arm of my chair as I read a spiritual book. I knocked it trying to answer it. I bounced about 3 feet and into the spa. I plunged my hand in immediately and pulled it out.
Too late. Water damage.
Got Blackberry II mid April 2012.
Today I put my phone, keys and wallet in the shopping basket. Selected some from the olive bar. I hate olives. They were a treat for Hubby.
When I got to the register everything in my basket was soggy and sticky with olive oil, including my phone!
Why is this happening to my cell phones?
Anyone else have this problem?
Stay away from spas and olive bars. Problem solved.
LOL. I forgot the previous phone that got dropped in a cup of coffee.
I'd rather stay away from phones than coffee!
Is there a water proof or resistant model that might be more appropriate for you? Don't feel bad, I have a brother in law that has drowned three phones in toilets. At least your mishaps were clean.
It could be stress. Are you stressed or something? Stress can cause weakened short term memory, i.e. you forgot your phone was there and then push and splash. Try to relax bit and mind your surroundings.
I have a hub about fixing wet cellphones. I hope this helps.

It must be Blackberries. I dropped my one and only Blackberry in pedicure water a few days after I got it. It was never the same...
Am so with you MightyMom!
Am addicted to Research In Motion {Blackberry} and have demolished several, almost purposefully, it seems. Dropped one into a hotel stall; one in the Caribbean, another off a roof-top hot-tub party (while talking to someone, which is still the buzz among friends). My now three year old decided to flush one down the toilet, with the biggest smile on his face. I have deemed them "durability case studies". And given Research [is] In Motion, might come up with a waterproof model. `Til then, I'll keep shucking clams for new ones.

Anytime your phone gets wet, DONT turn it back on. Remove the back cover and battery. Put some rice in a bowl or bag and place the phone with back and battery on the rice. Cover the phone and components with more rice. Let it sit in the rice for 24 to 48 hours. After that time put the battery back in and power up. The rice draws the moiture out of the phone. Won't work with salt water though.
