   I know exactly how he feels. Creationist don't want to look past the bible to see how old the Earth is. 46 per cent of Americans believe God created humans in their present form about 10,000 years ago. Nye is concerned about the next generation of Americans. Are you?

   Not concerned the least. People pay lip service to creationism. The percentage of Americans who completely ignore science and truly believe in creationism is probably in the neighborhood of less than 3%. To find one, for the average American, is akin to hunting snipe.

         If you met a creationist that truely disregards science, you didn't meet them on hubpages. For someone to completly ignore science, wouldn't be using the internet or a computer. LOL They should be living i a grass hut hut deep in some jungle to get away from anything "sciency" so they can be one on one with their man made god.

      Do you have any evidence for your claim? If there is any truth to it, I suspect that it would be that just 3 percent of Americans understand it well enough to form an opinion.

         I didn't quite follow the last part of the second sentence. Only 3% of Americans understand what well enough? Creationism? Is that a difficult concept?
         
         But, for your question...no. I can't point you to studies or polls; if that is what you are looking for. My opinion is from observations gleaned from talking to people; not taking one statement and forcing a belief on others because of that statement.
         
         People are sheep on some levels. We all know that. But, it doesn't mean they are sheep in their head. They say things for the express purpose of fitting in and not rocking the boat in the crowd they run in. 
         
         Plus, there is the whole 'I need to appear more pious than my neighbor' factor. Some ridiculous crap gets spouted simply because they think it makes them sound good in the religious sector. Politicians are a prime example.
         
         I'm not saying no one believes it, but from my experience it is limited to the cult sects and  very hard core Pentacostal type sects.

            I was referring to the alleged debate between evolution and creation. I just don't think people have thought about the question that much. As long as Honey Boo Boo is on, why should they care?

                  According to a June Gallup poll 46 per cent of Americans believe God created humans in their present form about 10,000 years ago.
                  The Creation Museum has averaged about 330,000 visitors a year since it opened just south of Cincinnati in 2007.
                  I personally feel anyone who believes the world is a few thousand years old and humans walked the earth the same time as dinosaurs needs a psych assessment.

                     In Canada and the UK it's closer to 14%.

                     A creation museum? LOL How pathetic! As for these 46%, what part of the country do these disillusioned people inhabit? Let me guess, states like Missisippi and Alabama where education is at the bottom of the pile and there's one church per 5 residents..
