      Hahahaha! There's probably no harm in approving, but I would use discretion just like you would with any other online friendship... It's definitely not normal for someone to ask for your email and stuff... You didn't post up a picture btw!

                  Ah, but what's at the end the end of the path Diana. I see a lovely little wooden shed with net curtains in the windows. And inside? Miss ililian, the girl of my dreams, will be waiting with an ice cold beer and a bowl of my favourite light potato snacks - cheesy Quavers.

                              Horatio is one of the Heroes of our AP group.
                              
                              I agree with this lovely young woman, "Understand matters."  Tell her you 'understand' her motives, completely.  Someone else will have to come to her rescue when her aging grandmother gets sick, or they try to take away the family farm, etc.  She has a special reason for contacting you, remember?

                                 Hello Marcy, my dear, how are you?. It's very kind of you to offer such kind words of warning, but I think I might just step in to the water and get my feet wet  anyway. I've done a bit of hunting around and Miss ililian seems to be a bit of a busy girl according to big Mr.G.
                                 I've even found a picture of her;
                                 
                                 
                                 
                                 She's 26 and from Senegal apparently. Her birthday's 18th February and she's single. The only thing is that according to her profile page on Funky UK (don't ask) she's listed as gay! (shome mistake, shurely? Ed), which kind of scuppers my plans somewhat. She does however have 52 Funky points.

                                    I think you should go right ahead and toy with her emotions, Dear Horatio.  She knows not which bees nest she has prodded.  I once responded to a scammer on a dating site, just for entertainment.  He kept wanting to IM, and I wasn't sure I wanted to do that (someone said it could jeopardize your computer security, but I didn't know how that would work).
                                    
                                    Even after I said I didn't IM, he went so far as to set up an IM account for me (I gave him a fake name, Doina Thesis  - as in 'doing a thesis,' because I was researching con-artists).  I finally stopped the meaningless exchanges.  But I think it would be very interesting to see what happens.
                                    
                                    BTW - I did a hub on online dating scams & how to spot them.

   Too late, I've approved her fan mail and am now following her back; although she has not as yet published any Hubs, which is surprising considering she has been a member for over 2 weeks. Ah well, perhaps she's still working her way through the learning center. There's a lot to take in when you're new around here.
   Perhaps I should offer to be her "mentor", after all I'd like to do something constructive with that little green badge.

      Oh, and my the way, will nobody please mention any of this to Mrs. P as I'm still in the doghouse after the episode with the Russian lady. Although as I said at the time, £5,000 seemed a reasonable amount to build a hospital wing with, so I'm still not sure what all the fuss was about.
