"Thanks" button on forum posts

I've been a member of many forums in the past, and they all had a thanks button for each post in the forum and each comment made on the post.

I would LOVE to see this added to the HubPages forum!!  First of all as the original poster you could just thank the people who replied to you.  Secondly, if someone gives a very insightful and helpful reply to a forum post everyone who sees it could thank them.   It would help give a bit of weight to answers that make the most sense or have answered the person perfectly.  In my previous forums when someone has answered a question and that answer has 100 "thanks"  and all the others only have a couple, I can safely assume that the poster with all the "thanks" has the best answer.  It would also be a great way for moderators to gauge the interest of specific questions asked in the forums.

I constantly scan the forums without saying much of anything, but there have been many MANY times where I'd like to give "thanks" to someone who has written or commented on a post.  In fact, it just happened moments ago. lol

    Anyway, just my 2 cents.

If we had that option, I would "thank" you for the suggestion, Krysanthe! That is very generous of you.

As it happens, we do have similar options for Answers (through upvotes and a Question asker's ability to declare a Best Answer), though of course the Questions and Answers portion of our site is designed for non-HubPages topics and issues unrelated to general opinion and discussion.

We have discussed various means of giving thanks (or showin support) in the Forums before, but have, as you can see, never acted on our ideas.

I will bring up your suggestion in this week's community meeting and see what the team has to say! big_smile

I'd also like to say thanks for the suggestion Krysanthe!

Simone I've often thought I'd like something like this as well - sometimes it just looks weird typing out a whole forum post saying "Thanks you're awesome, but I'm not sure how much I should gush." LOL

What you said about thanks and gushing was funny. But I also agree on the "thanks" suggestion. It is kind of weird to just type a post in which you're only saying thanks. But I think it's only right to thank those that helped you.

"Thanks" to you all for thanking me.  wink

And a double thanks to Simone for bringing it up in the community meeting.

      Hey again Krysanthe!!
We agree that we would like the feature, and believe it or not, we actually have tickets filed for pretty much the same feature to be created (as well as a separate ticket for an option to thank people in the comments sections of Hubs).

Now, when we'll have the bandwidth to actually complete the project, which does not directly affect our most pressing objectives (that is, help you get a larger audience and earn more from your Hubs), remains to be determined, but at least you know that we would like to do this and plan to do so eventually. big_smile

Great idea!  Lots of times I've read someone's post and was like "oh, that's good/helpful/interesting" but it seemed a little awkward to write a post saying the oh-so-eloquent contents of "thanks".  I second this!
