Punishment as I understand it is corrective, not vindictive, so who profits from endless punishment, the dammed or God?

No one profits. Your God is nothing but vindictive and that's exactly what He teaches His followers, to be vindictive, as well.

Your viewpoint depends upon who you choose to believe ATM. You have chosen to believe mainstream evangelicals rather than oddballs like SOM, myself and others who believe the bible teaches ultimate reconciliation. Perhaps rather than being dismissive, you might want to think for your self.

No, I have chosen my viewpoint on the observed actions of followers to religions. Your belief in the bible teaching reconciliation is recon-silly.

Can it be neither corrective nor vindictiveness, neither the damned nor God?

Can it actually be fear of endless punishment and the one(s) benefiting are the priests and/or the upper echelon  of organized religion VIP's?

It has been said that all humans have a sense of what is right and what is wrong. Experiments in the past have shown that if one puts a glass board down on the floor for if a baby can perceive depth most will stop before proceeding across to reach their parent.

God's justice is not like man's justice, first of all mankind does not really understand the value of sin. But from the very beginning sin has required a great price. All of mankind was affected by Adam and Eve's sin.

What punishment would be justified for the horror that people suffered in German prison camps, or the slaughter of innocent men women and children in some places in Africa? I have to be honest through the years the evil I have heard mankind having committed against one another I am at a loss to find an adequate punishment to fit the crime.

That is why God condemmed all men to die. Because of Adam,s disobedience, we are all condemned to die, but it was the obedience of Christ that has justified all to life. The wage of sin is death, not eternal torture.

      1. wilderness profile image96

Then sin produces reward, not punishment, for there could be no greater torment than eternal life.

According to you, your god punished Adam for a silly mistake (what any child would do), disproportionate to the crime. Not only that, he punished his sons, grand sons, grand grand. ..sons... and whole mankind for the act of one man and you are justifying that act. If such acts are justified, then I can take revenge on you for what your grand grand father did to my grand grand father. You justified that too, and only 'challenged me to try' and didn't challenge the rationale. . What I said is only barbarians (may not even barbarians) do and justify such acts and when you justify such acts it reveals a lot about you.

        Revelation 20

        The Defeat of Satan
7And when the thousand years are ended, Satan will be released from his prison 8and will come out to deceive the nations that are at the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle; their number is like the sand of the sea. 9And they marched up over the broad plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city, but fire came down from heavenb and consumed them, 10
and the devil who had deceived them was Thrown into the Lake of Fire and Sulfur Where the Beast and the False Prophet Were, and They Will Be Tormented Day and Night Forever and Ever.

It's called logic and reasoning coupled with our capacity for altruism and compassion.

And, the point of that is what?

Sin has no value, it is completely irrelevant in reality.

Which of course, is an utterly ridiculous and childish fable.

Considering how harsh your God is to people who merely disobey Him, I'm sure He could teach you how to b ultimately cruel and vindictive.

This is why I find it difficult for some to understand that the holy books must have been written by people attempting to keep it's citizens in line. Only a person would make up such nonsense, condemn all for the fault of one added to eternal hellfire for not praising the absentee God is reason enough to look critically at any holy books. Did I forget to mention the human sacrifice that we are somehow supposed to believe saved us?

I find it difficult to believe that that everyone who chooses to believe the wrong preacher's message is going to suffer eternal consequences. After all, … Revelations says that God gave John the revelation that a false religion will rise to power (C. 13) and  that religion will lead most people astray because it will appear to be Holy when in fact it won't be.  We might say that God ordains or commands this religion to become what it becomes.  It doesn't make sense that those people that falls for the trick which God set in motion is going to be punished for eternity.                                                                         BUT in no way does this prove that such a deity does not exist.
Maybe ?  this kind of concept is that portion of falseness (blasphemy) which God is speaking of in his prophesy?
Lets assume (I know what assume means) that God is real and a truthful description of him was given  at one time.
We being as smart as we are, expand this concept in such a way that we benefit from it. How much expanding can be done until it becomes false?  Isn't blasphemy saying God said something that he did not say?
I guess what I'm trying to say is that if we tell enough lies about someone, will people eventually not believe these lies about the person,…   And Then also stop believing the person ever existed?
