I reckon that most families play monopoly at some time or other, and have little rules of their own to make the game easier or more interesting.
In our family, we do the following:
1. Put a note of the highest value in the centre, and put all the fines, taxes, etc on top of it.
When someone lands on "Free Parking", they collect the loot as a bonus.
Then another highest value note is put in the middle, and the process continues.
What modifications to you make to the rules of the game when you play it?
Well, being the eldest of three brothers, I was careful to ensure I was always the banker.
The game always ended at our place when the FIRST person went bankrupt.
And we used to lend each other money to prevent that catastrophe from occurring ...

At our house when bankruptcy was near we would sell real life chores for more mullah...there was a time (twenty some years ago)when my son didn't have to do any of his chores for almost a month. Don't think that my daughter didn't grumble about that.(He, till this day considers himself the king of monopoly). On that note we haven't played for quite a while I think we will have to do something about knocking his crown off soon.
We also do the following:
1. Add $500 to the free parking and never leave it empty;
2. Anyone lands in free parking gets the moola;
3. Have made new bills in millions, billions;
4. Game never ends until all players agree to end;
5. Bankruptcy doesn't happen -- bank or other player can lend interest free money.
The board is still out and on the play!

Crikey! Sounds more like the "Never Ending Story" than Monopoly.

What strategy do you use when playing Monopoly?Do you always buy the railroads, or try to buy a whole side of the board? Does anybody ever win if they buy the utilities? Photo courtesy of Freedigitalphotos.net and Graur Razvan Ionut

I would like everyone to give an idea of their "house rules" of beer pong. I learned of a new rule earlier and would like to see if I can find more.

What should be the "house rules" when a 15 y.o. boy has his 14 year old girl friend over to hang outThey aren't GF-BF but there is definitely some sexual tension here. Should the doors stay open? Should I respect their privacy? Should I put out a bowl of assorted condoms? Help
