On every page that I go to on HubPages, I am getting a banner notice from my anti-virus software. It says:
"This site might be vulnerable. Sharing personal information on this site is not advised. Learn more."

The learn more takes me to this link, http://blogs.avg.com/news-threats/webse … ulnerable/
which discusses a new threat called CCS Injection.

I am still using the site, but it does make me nervous.  Is it possible for you to fix whatever is causing this warning?

    Thanks

The message is related to OpenSSL.
Perhaps you recall the Heartbleed news a while back.
      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heartbleed

It appears they may be doing a very basic check and then reporting a false positive.

While HubPages does use OpenSSL, we did not (and do not) use the specific versions that are vulnerable.

Here is a more detailed response to a false a previous false positive related to OpenSSL.
      http://hubpages.com/forum/post/2572438

This, again, appears to be a false positive, so you can disregard it.

Unfortunately, we have no ability to change how AVG reports this information.

    Instructions
    1
Double-click the AVG icon on the desktop.

    2
Click the option labeled "Components" on the menu bar. Next click the "LinkScanner" option on the drop-down menu.

    3
Uncheck the boxes next to "Enable AVG Active Surf-Shield" and "Enable AVG Active Search-Shield".

    4
Click the button labeled "Save Changes" to disable the AVG pop-up blocker.

Thank you for that Jimmy.  That procedure would stop AVG from giving me warnings, but that wouldn't keep the site from being unsafe.

And if people outside HP see this warning, they will not read, but move on to other sites.

Anti-virus software has been warning people about the site for a few years now, and as our web traffic has been slowly growing again over the last year, it's clear people are not moving on.

Did I read somewhere that these warnings occur because Analytics is allowed on HubPages?

@Relache: I just wonder if our traffic might grow a little faster if it weren't for the warnings.

The warning is not related to Analytics.
Please see the link above for more information.

        Yes, I saw your post.

I saw the mention of Analytics on a similar thread about Avast.

McAfee used to give me warnings all the time. I got rid of that. I used to worry about it. No sense worrying. It is what it is
