      - a dad reading bedtime stories
      - kids laughing and playing together
      - an old couple holding hands
      - someone doing an unexpected kindness without seeking credit
      - people picking up litter-- even if they didn't put it there
      - people in a community or even total strangers working together to make a difference

    Great stuff.  Thanks for a nice thread, Beth. 
    So far I can relate to almost all of the above. 

    Here are a few of mine:
    Seeing my daughter happy.
    My daughter feeling well.
    Seeing my wife happy.
    Spirit led study and discernment, particularly those many times when new revelations come from familiar verses which have richly taught me other, unrelated lessons before.  Amazing!
    Assisting those with ears to hear.

      I like the part about your daughter.
      We are so deeply connected to our kids. We want so desperately for them to just be 'ok'. And when they thrive, our hearts feel like they might explode.

        We slowly lose ground, and with each minor regression the gravity of how dear her smile is and how much it will some day be missed, weighs heavy.  We will savor each one as long as we can and do all within our power to keep them coming.

            Thank you Rad.  Not my intent to be dramatic.  It is our reality.  Hey, we weren't supposed to get an hour, day or week and yet she will be 23 next year.  Our perspective is simple.  With the deck stacked as it is, she could easily give up anytime.  That has always been true.  She never has, so neither will we.  Docs were shocked when she made a month, and I guarantee none expected one day she would be too old for the Children's hospital.  Transitioning has been difficult, but if we step back, it is a good problem to have.

      I've never seen a more important reason to derail any thread.

      A derail of this magnitude is one of my favourite things to see here. Taking an unimportant, but well meaning thread and turning it into something real has my full respect.

        Thankfully Sed-me will answer to the true judge, and not any person who judges her or criticizes her. God has determined what is important, and the topic of this thread IS important, just as it is written: "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things." (Philippians 4:8) Awesome thread, Sed-me!

    New beginnings; second, third, fourth... chances; mercy and forgiveness; love in unlikely places; repentant and humble hearts; beauty out of ashes.

    My children. My family. My friends. Kindness from strangers. Love.

    God's promises. God's faithfulness. God's goodness and love. God's guidance. God's wisdom. God's Word. God's mercies. God's care of us. God's beauty.

    Blue skies with fluffy white clouds; rainstorms; thunderstorms; sunsets; fields of wildflowers; gardens; beaches; singing birds; enchanting forests; babbling brooks; colors; Autumn leaves and hayrides; cozy fireplaces and snow falling...

    Okay, it's a small fraction, but I'll just stop now.
