How long does it take Adsense to approve my application?

I applied for Google Adsense at the beginning of the month. My application is now under review, but it's been like that for three weeks. I haven't gotten any emails from Adsense other than one saying that I needed to add my ad code to my site (I already know I don't need to worry about this with HP). What's the deal?

Worth noting: I am in the U.S., I had almost 20 hubs when I applied and currently have 23 published and featured hubs. I continuing to remain active on HP. Is there something I should be doing? Should I contact Adsense?

If you received an email telling you how to put ad code on your site then it sounds like you've already been approved.  To use Adsense on HP, you need to input your Adsense publisher id number in earnings settings page somewhere.  Then HP will automatically place ads with your id number (part of the time as per the revenue sharing agreement).  You can find your Adsense pub id number by logging in to your Adsense account.

Here is what my Adsense app tells me:

You're Adsense application is still under review. You will only see blank ads until your application has been approved or disapproved.

So I'm signed up and approved even though it says that?

Well then I guess you are not approved.  So why on earth would they send you a message telling you that you need to put ads on your site, as you said in your original post?  That's very strange to me.  The only thing to do is wait until they send you an email explicitly saying you are approved.  There's no telling how many more weeks it could take; approval times are unpredictable.

Any developments? Good news I hope!

I'm interested in hearing how others have fared as I am preparing for my AdSense application.
