hub Pages Censorship

   I received a notcie yesterday informing me Hub Pages will not post a Hub I wanted to publish that outlined the LGBTactivist agenda of going after our pre-school age children in an attempt to indocrinate them at a very young age that the gay lifestyle is a normallifestyle.
   
   The editors claimed it was "hate speech."  And yet I can find numerous hubs posted and answers to numerous questions throghout HP that blatantly attack the judeo-christian world view.  Comments stating we are unenlightened, ignorant, calling a Christian's faith the equivalent of a fairytale.
   
   Can anyone please explain how that does not constitute 'hate speech' if the same standard is applied to that as it is to statements made about LGBTactivists?

      Hubpages is a private company. The owners and operators don't have to do things fairly or consistently. They are also human. Sometimes mistakes are made. Did you try emailing them at team@hubpages.com? I wouldn't go with the perspective of fairness related to other things published here. That's probably not going to get you far but it might get some other things unpublished if you can flag those examples for the moderators. If I had to guess, there might be some phrases or terms in your hub that tripped an automatic filter. Try taking a look at your hub closely to make sure it's as objective as you can make it avoiding any derogatory terms, etc. Then maybe try again.

   It is less of a hate speech issue but the corrosive effect of these conspiracy theory hubs is more damaging overall.
   
   It shows contempt for the families involved (the author suggests they are faking their loss).
   
   It shows contempt for government agencies trying to clean up the mess.
   
   It shows contempt for reputable reporters.
   
   It shows contempt for the entire business of civilized society, frankly.
   
   On a more local note, spreading misinformation for profit is poor practice for a website that wants to build a reputation.
   
   Set some accuracy standards and make people who are pretending to be journalists, apply journalistic standards.

      I looked at the Hub and, just based upon a quick glance it looks like they are repeating or suggesting the same misinformation propagated by mainstream news agencies, at first,  that the shooter used a AR15.

   Yeah. To a certain extent I can see the validity of your view. But this is a privately owned website, and they're a lot more fair than foul here. And no private company has to allow conduct they don't approve of.
   
   And your page, if you'll pardon our collective ignorance of its lay out and content, may have been below the quality standards here as well.
   
   As time has passed and I've seen how the internet works, I'm convinced high standards for a page matter quite a lot to everyone hoping to do well on this website.
   
   You can publish just about anything in the world on blogger, also known as 'blogspot.' Why not just publish the thing there?

   Without knowing what you've actually written it is impossible for any of us to guess why your Hub was considered hate speech. I would think and hope that the topic alone would not have been the reason.
   
   However, if you are going to write about topics like this you have to be careful. You need to present your case in a logical, coherent and respectful way without unfairly insulting an entire group of people simply because they don't think the way you do. That's should be a life rule, not just a HubPages rule.
   
   Again, not saying that's what you did because I haven't read your Hub, but it seems like the potential to insult people is there with this topic if you aren't smart about it. If you find other Hubs that you feel are hate speech, flag them.
   
   Also remember that HP has advertisers, and the hate speech thing is one of those issues that will make them pull their ads from a site. Naturally HP is going to err on the side of caution.
   
   It's not censorship. It's business.
   
   On a practical note, I agree with Wesman about posting stuff like this on a personal blog rather than here on HP. It isn't likely to make any money here even if it gets published, and if your goal is to be a megaphone for a certain ideology you'll have more freedom and a better chance of gaining a following doing that on your own blog.

   I suspect hate speech is defined by lawyers, and hubpages does not want to be sued. 
   
   Of course here are other reasons to be unsympathetic about hate speech.

   No reputable newspaper, or blog, for that matter would accept the kind of nonsense Hubpages routinely publishes in its 'social issues' section. Many of the pages there are deeply antisocial, for one thing.
   
   HP could set some standards of its own and build a reputation of its own.
   
   I couldn't imagine many writers with genuine expertise in the social sciences, politics or related fields would choose to publish in that kind of company.
   
   The fact that you boot a page one rung down the hierarchy into 'conspiracy theories' is a pretty weak approach.
