Game Consoles vs My Computer

   My granddaughter tells me that I am not playing video games because I don't play them on a console attached to a TV. I told her that there were computer games first and that some console games were probably birthed on a computer anyway. She then tells me that this may be the case but still in her opinion, I am NOT playing a video game because it is on a computer.
   
   Just rather made me a bit indignant. I wanted to say that it "p---ed" me off but I don't like using that terminology. So--I am not playing video games because its on a computer, is it? I taught her mom and uncles what they know about computers and they still come to me for advice. Anyway, am I playing video games or not.
   
   I thought this might be a fun topic because this younger generation really think they have a "leg up" on terminology. I love my granddaughter very much and we have fun verbally banging each other around! But who is right this time?

      I like to play more on the pc, I only use the console during parties with friends!

         Since I discovered The Oregon Trail in Apple Arcade, I have truly become fascinated with iPad playing!

   You both are! Yes most of the modern games are only built for PS4, xbox and the like. But the real time classics and the popular console games are also available for PC. For instance I play via Steam on my Laptop and it's got all the games I'd ever want to play. If someone tells me that I'm not playing just because it's on my laptop (and people have) I just ignore them, because I know that it's still playing. I could play the same on my TV. But why? Not everyone in the younger generation thinks that way Well, maybe the generation after me, the current teenagers? Who knows. Don't care lol.

      Right on! There are some fantastic games on PCs and probably if I were quicker; I would do the console thing. I just really like PC games and play them daily.

   Plenty of the younger generation plays strictly on the PC, and plenty of games are released on that platform only. I play more on my computer personally, but that's not so much a personal preference so much as because a lot of the games I want to play are released digitally through platforms like Steam.
   
   And it might be the case that your granddaughter is a slight bit younger than me, but I know plenty of people around my age have the same argument of PC versus console with regards to who the "real gamers" are.

      Appreciate your input.
      My granddaughter is 20. Her little brother who is still a teen does recognizes PC video games but also prefers the console. I am not that good with those consoles but I do love the mysteries that I play on PCs. The Sherlock Holmes games were great, Also the Agatha Christie murder mysteries until they started making them Hidden Objects (HOPs). I know they have Grand Theft Auto on PC but I am not into it.

   Haha if she's 23 then there's no generation gap here I assumed she was in her teens. PC all the way! Just because there's steam. The sherlock games were pretty good, for sure.

      Angelique is 20. She doesn't even like IPad and I think that is totally weird. I play games on my IPad but the screen is so small so I stick to Solitary. I will pull out my mini-IPad and play Solitary in the doctor's office. I really love playing games. She will play maybe on her phone but that is way too small for me. If I am going to blast the bad guys, I need to see them.

   For me, i prefer playing games on my computer. And i don't think it does matter whether you're playing with console or computer. It depends on one's preference.
