Hi Hubbers,
I'd like some help with passing the Quality Assessment Process. Will you please give feedback on my Hub Journey Through North London - a Poem. What can I do to improve? Thanks!
I like your poem, and having lived in Muswell Hill for a while, I can really identify with it. I especially liked the last line about stumbling into Kwame's embrace after parking on a "double yeller". Most of the world might be able to work out what a double yeller is but they won't get Kwame unless they've lived in London, (or come from Nigeria) but that's their loss - it's poetry. No problems so far.
But then you devote the rest of the Hub to some random snippets of info about North London. Nicely written and interesting, but nothing to do with poetry. It comes across as you attempting to fill out your Hub. I wonder if HP see that as a problem. If it was a Hub about North London, and it happened to include your poem, that would be fine, but you've presented this as a poem in the poetry category, so the rest appears irrelevant.
Another problem might be the Amazon link. HubPages now want you to only include Amazon links for products that you have personal experience of. If you do, then make a point of saying so and why you recommend it.
Another problem may be the self promotional link to your Zazzle store.
But great poem - and IMO good poetry is hard to find on HubPages.
I thought the hubs had to be a certain number of words - is there an exception for poetry, or do the same rules apply?
Poems are exempt from the length requirement in theory - but in practice, poems are a lot more successful if you create a longer Hub around them, rather than simply posting the poem. So your instinct is right. However, it's the nature of your extra material that's causing the problem. The rules have tightened up a lot recently.
If you are going to include any of the following in Hubs:
- links to other Hubs
- links to other websites
- Amazon products
- other products
..then they must be directly relevant to the TITLE of your Hub. Your title is about North London. That means:
- your links to poems which aren't about London are not permissible.
- your Amazon product is not permissible (the Underground is not mentioned in the title or in your poem).
- ditto your Zazzle postbox.
Also, if you include an Amazon product nowadays, you MUST give an explanation of why you're personally recommending that product.
