Over the last 3/4 days my views have been pretty good but unfortunately the earnings stats don't seem to be reflecting this. The earnings are showing stats that are less than 40% of the hub views from the articles page. I know we split views 60/40 but they seem excessively low at the moment. Has anyone else noticed this?
I think you are referring to the number of impressions.
The number you see on your account page is the number of page views. If someone has an ad blocker, or looks at the first paragraph but then bounces out without even reading your article, they do not count as an impression, and you do not make any monet off of them.
Check your traffic sources. If a lot of your page views are coming from social media instead of Google, you impressions are probably going to be less than 40% of your page views.
Thanks for the info DrMark - nothing from social media so I guess maybe lots of bounces... :-(
This might be a signal to take a hard look at the opening paragraph on each Hub, then.
If you're getting good traffic, that means you've chosen your titles well - but if you're getting bounces, that means readers are reading the first paragraph, feeling like you're not going to answer their question, and going back to Google for a better result.
At school, we were taught to begin an article with a nice gentle introduction. You have to "unlearn" that! Online, you've got to convince the reader with the first paragraph - they won't bother scrolling down to read more, if that opening doesn't grab them.
Having said that, I'd be cautious about jumping in and doing revisions, because it could have unwelcome consequences! HubPages' rules have changed a lot recently, but existing Hubs aren't checked for compliance, so your Hubs haven't been affected. However as soon as you edit one of them, it will be checked. If you've used an Amazon capsule or a website link that breaks the rules, the Hub will be "unFeatured" (which means "made invisible to search engines").
So, if you're going to do any revisions, I'd suggest reading my Hub on The Basic Rules, and also my Hub on How to Optimize your Hubs (they're both on the slider on my profile).
Thanks Marisa, yes I have stopped doing revisions on my hubs for that precise reason! I had one hub that they said could be moved to a niche site with with a few tweaks and as soon as I updated it, it got unfeatured and around 8 updates later I still can't even get it featured again! It was a bummer as that one earned me a fair few amazon commissions as well :-(
I think it may have been some kind of glitch for a few days as the stats have now gone down to the correct level but for about 3/4 days they were showing way above the respective earnings figures.
Like I said, read my Hub on the Basic Rules. Chances are you're breaching one of the rules listed there - they're all covered.
The rules about Amazon are very, very strict now. Hubs rarely get unfeatured because they're badly written, it's more likely it's because you have a link or product that breaks the rules.

I noticed this many months ago and the problem is still the same now and is measurable. I don't know if this applies to other users also but the stats showing in my account are way inaccurate. For example, after publishing my latest hub, my Blogger stats showed that over 290 users had clicked...

http://hubpages.com/art/Kids-Crafts-Ide … s-Can-MakeI have overhauled this entire article, including removing all product links. Currently, it doesn't have any warnings (i.e. low-quality images, too many product links, etc.), yet it was marked unfeatured again after my most recent edits....

There are a lot of hubbers that believe that the traffic stats inform the earnings figures. Considering that the traffic stats have not been working well lately it has got people worried that they aren't getting the earnings/impressions that they should be and this is damaging writer trust in HP....

The stats page is broken again - not showing 'featured' symbols and not allowing page orders to be changed by click on the headings.

Last night I went in an edited a capsule so that it would be full width, which is what HP wants everyone to do. The article I edited has been published and featured since 2012. When I went in and edited, however, the editor that read it decided that it was no longer going to be featured. I was told...
