I woke up this morning to find someone tryed to steal my car. There was a key in which they tryed putting in the ignition that they thought belonged to it, but it didn't, they ramsacked the thing, throwing papers all over. Then they got in my other car but must have been to stupid to open the trunk, thank god. I called the cops and theres cameras across the street so hopefully they catch them. I cant lock my stealth but I told my husband, lets put a note taped to the stearing wheel that says, "Get a job and buy your own car, smile your on camera looser". I just really hate theives and wish the worst upon them..

Kmackey, you and cars do not go hand in hand.  Either you are getting told your car stinks or someone is trying to steal your car or something.  Do you suppose the person who said your car stinks was the culprit? lol.  It very well could be that he/she was telling you that your car stinks to make you think that they did not like your car ...then turned around and tried to steal it?  lmao.  kiddn of course.

LOL no that was an old lady. The police said someones been going around getting in peoples cars around here, oh an Im an idiot for leaving it unlocked. I think it was a drug addict wanting to find money or things for drugs. This town is bad for being such a small town.

Maybe you ought to leave it unlocked and put some tacks or cactus thorns in the seat for them.

Spell check that note before you put it on the steering wheel. Where do you live that there's a camera across the street, and is it somewhere these criminals might have seen or was it a hidden camera thing? I hope your insurance covers the damage.

I live in PA. Theres cameras at the funeral home across the street. I have no idea why. There wasnt any damage. They just put my papers all over the car. What did I spell wrong in that sentence?

Try lo-jack, also.. neighborhood watches come in handy. I feel for you. That must have been a surreal feeling 80. How about installing a car alarm, small hidden cameras in the cars, next time.
Good luck, hugs to you and your family..

Jesus, KM, what a nightmare!  My brother had his car set on fire when the basta**s couldn't steal it.  They torched his car right in his driveway.  It is scary to think this was all going on right outside your house.  I hope they catch the losers.

Yea right outside my bedroom window. In a way I wish they would have started it. My car has glass packs, it rattles the house when its running, plus the insurence and registration are both out on it. They would have most likely been caught. And the clutch fluid was out so they wouldnt have got far. LOL

  4. brad4l profile image71

I have had my radio stolen twice, and I don't think I will ever get used to that sinking feeling of seeing glass around your car first thing in the morning. It is a bad way to start the day. There wasn't really anything the police could do in either case though.

I hope the camera got a good shot of the crook(s)!

I think after 2 times I would invest in cameras or a car alarm. Im thinking of a car alarm when I can afford it. I would love to just catch someone.

      1. brad4l profile image71
brad4lposted 14 years agoin reply to this

It would be neat to have a car alarm with a camera built into it, which could take a picture of the person driving the car every few minutes. Wonder if they make those yet...

Edit: Yep, just did a quick google for "camera car alarm" and found one with a night vision camera. That would be the way to go smile

Definitely too much work.  When my niece was killed by a hit and run trucker in 2004, the ossifers didn't even check the bumpers (of the trucks still parked at the scene when cops arrived) for blood and remains of brains (her brain was literally blown out of the braincase and ended up 65 feet away from the point of impact on a 45 degree angle).

When I was in my 20's, I had some friends in from NYC. We went out to dinner down near Yale and had parked in one of Yale's parking lots. When we came out to get the car after dinner, the parking lot was all closed up and my car was gone. Turns out these thugs had been "faking" an open lot, taking peoples' money for parking and then picking the car of their choice and stealing it. While I was on the phone with the cops, the jerks drove by in my car!

The worst part is, the 16 year old that stole my car totalled it. He then sued me to pay his medical bills because it was my car!!! True story!

This is slightly off topic-- but reminded me of a security tip i heard that i thought was pretty good.

If you park your car next to your house, or in an attached garage, you should keep your car remote close to your bedside.

This way, if you hear an intruder, someone trying to open a window in your house or even someone messing with your car, you can push the Horn button and cause a bit of commotion that might scare away someone with evil intentions.

Modern car's anti theft devices are making new problems. With many cars near impossible to steal without the keys they are the new target.
My boss heard a noise downstairs one night, thought it was just the wind. Next morning finds theives broke in and stole both their cars. Didn't bother with anything in the house.
They were just glad they din't go down to investigate - it wouldn't be pretty bumping into at least two felons plus the bar they used to gain access.
