My wallett and Bank cards were stolen last month, as a security concious person, I got in touch with my bank and informed them about it, and they put a block on my account straight away, and I thought that that would be the end of it.
I pay some monthly bills through my bank card and I informed the companies involved that there would be a slight delay in payments until I recieved my new cards (3 weeks later still waiting), the companies were all very nice and understanding on the telephone and I assured them of payment as soon as it was physically possible.
In the past few days I have recieved mail from the companies concerned asking for payment and every one of them is charging me a late payment fee for administration the fees range from £15.00 - around $30.00 to £35.00 - $70.00.
Only one company isn't charging me anything for a late payment infact they have been kind enough to waive this months payment and I pay double next month instead.
I am beginning to believe that the person who stole from me was the only honest one of them all, the the four companies who are charging me for late payment are stealing from me just as he did but they are more sneaky about it.....jimmy
Firstly, Sorry to hear about your dillema!! not the best of situations to be in at all! but you have made a really really true point which is a shame of what that society has come to this!!
Hope all is insured and everythings sorted out soon!!
Nasty Jimmy - but I do all my banking including bill payments online to avoid this sort of issue
I feel for you, Jimmy.
I would call them again and insist to talk to managers. If they don't cooperate, I would say bye to them and switch to other companies, if possible.
Good luck!
Thanks for the comments guys I was just using this forum to vent my frustration, as they say it is better to let off steam than keep it bottled up......jimmy
Jimmy. That sucks. Personally, I put banks and bankers in the same bracket as the internet scammers. Scum.
No offense Misha
So, is Misha a bank, a bankers or the later? :-)
Jimmy--so sorry this happened to you.
I agree with Lissie--make your payments on line and you won't have to worry about late charges or payments being lost in the mail. This way is safe and secure! Besides won't be long and it will probably be the ONLY way you can pay a bill!!
I also agree with Misha--get hold of the top person at your card company (keep track of dates, times and names) and complain and if that doesn't work switch if you can.
GOOD LUCK!!
I agree with the majority, credit card companies are scum. They are as much to blame for people being so far in debt as the people themselves. They are always raising your limit without asking.
Jimmy, I am beginning to feel not so warm and fuzzy about banks myself. A few weeks ago my bf added me to his bank account because it's more convenient for me to do the shopping with his work hours. We sat side by side and he added me to his existing account at Wells Fargo bank, where he has been a customer for years.
The teller asked if I needed online banking access to his account to which we both said no.
She said when I got the ATM card in the mail I could go to any branch and get a personal ID number and start using the card.
So I get the card and go to a branch closer to my house. She pulls up the account and finds out someone in the bank without our permission connected my bf's account to an email address and set up online banking to gain access to his money. They used my first name and the year of my birth and opened a gmail address. Lucky for me and unfortunately for them, they misspelled gmail as gimal so the bogus account validation never went through. But it's shaken my trust in banks and bank personnel.
The person who made the online account discovery said she'd tell her manager and get right on it. I went back the next day and talked to the bank manager and he knew nothing about it.
They just blew it off and that made me mad. I got him to call the District manager, and now they are supposed to be investigating it. But isn't this all sounding like asking the fox to guard the henhouse? They are supposed to call me back this week to tell me what has been done to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else.
I'm beginning to think we should go back to stuffing our money under our mattresses.

I was informed I had been issued a payment but it's been put on hold because I haven't submitted banking account info. The last 2 payments were checks that were sent to me in the mail and I loved it that way.... but apparently now, I have to get a bank account before I can receive my payment. ...

I have not checked Google adsense in a while and when I checked today I have over the threshold amount. They have my banking information already verified. I can't figure out if there is anything else I need to do so that I get paid this month. The amount for June is still *estimated earning*, but...

I finally reached Adsense payout last month but all I see is that payment will be sent 'by' the 31 of May. Does that mean that payment could be any old date or will it be made 'on' the 31st? Not sure I understand what they mean by by the 31st of May

Okay, I really do not mean to sound that I cannot comprehend much, but I really do not understand the payment and earnings. I am using the HP ad and Amazon ad programs only. Fortunately and unfortunately, I've started hitting payout every month for the past five months as Amazon has finally started...
