To what extent internal traffic from Hubpages help us? (Of course, getting a few good comments on our articles are always ego-boosting. Otherwise?)
Internal traffic helps us in many ways:
1. You get more hub views.
2. IT is good for a starter.
3. Internal comments help our hubs rank higher in the search engines.
4. Internal comments help us in updating our hubs which is liked by search engines bots.
At last, I would say internal traffic is meant for getting external traffic. For example, if your hub is getting a lot of internal traffic, it will become visible on the main site and get listed on the priority lists of search engine bots for indexing purposes.
Bringing internal traffic is the first step to bring your hub on top of others, so go ahead and publish a hub. Best of luck.
I have this idea the comments contribute as they are little bits of new content for the google spiders to gobble up. I suspect that member traffic helps but in a round about way. Yes they wont click ads and are probably not likely to by through your amazon ads, but they may back link your article. I would be surprised if the traffic you get internally goes completely unnoticed by search engines (even if its not google). I also wonder if someone finds your article from google and then notices my article in the related hubs area and clicks to read my article next, are they now considered hub-pages traffic? If so then there is still the chance for clicks and even amazon buys.
Without Internal Traffic you would not be able to evaluate the level of your 'Writing' ability.
To many; that may be completely irrelevant, but to a Writer or one with the aspirations to be; your peers do far more than stroke your ego!
I agree with both of your views, kirstenblog and pearldiver..Good thoughts out of your experience..
Soni, thats very sweet . I still feel like a big newbie really. I have recently been surprised by which hubs have 'come to life' when I didn't think they would, others I was so confident of and they don't do much really. Perhaps they are just needing to mature like a fine wine before they spring into life, or maybe they kinda suck lol. I guess it takes all sorts to get a good handle on what will work and what wont here.
Kirsten, it takes time. Slowly and steadily you will improve. If money and success is your ultimate goal, one hint for you is to start searching for keywords which pay off well. I am using this google tool these days https://adwords.google.com/select/Traff … torSandbox
Check it out and ROCK.....
I am definitely going to have a play with this one. I have been playing with the regular google keyword tool but it seems to be more for advertisers then us affiliates
I agree with everything all the experts have said. One point that did not come up however is that you need to promote your hubpages to get more outside traffic.
This can be done with blogs or ezine articles linking back to your hub. There are thousands of sites where you can post articles that are relevant to your topic. Select the article sites with the highest page ranks as this will make your back link to your hub stronger.
hi to all, am just reading all the responses here and am learning a lot, thanks.

How is it that a hub on the 'common mistakes new hubbers make' can suddenly become not featured, in spite of the fact it has had 9 views in a day, 24 views in 7 days and 35 views in the last 30 days? I only replied to comments on it both 42 hours ago and 22 hours ago (from two different hubbers)....

I am starting to learn how to social bookmark. I've been doing it on twitter, facebook, igoogle, digg, delicious, diigo, my blogs, pingomatic and a few other places. I have only been doing it on some of these sites for the last four or five days. It probably takes a while to see...

I love HubPages, I feel that I have learned so much here and my confidence in writing non-fiction took such a huge leap when I was invited onto the Apprenticeship program last year. I have met some wonderful people here - both staff and other Hubbers. But as may other people have said, the idling...

Aside from sharing my article links on Facebook, what are some tried and true ways of increasing traffic/reads to our articles? I'm new; 3 weeks in, have 10 published and featured articles so far. I'm trying to figure out what the number on my profile photo means exactly. I know...

There have been several theories about what content Google is penalising and rewarding in the search results but at the moment it does seem a bit random (from my end). Let's compare notes and hopefully we can see some common threads in there. What content of yours is holding on to its ranking and...
