I have not seen much discussed of geo-targetting in hubpages. While google may automatically target it's adverts, is tehre anything in the pipeline for geo-targetting Amazon adverts? and eBay has been promoting it's geotargetting banners like mad recently.
I think it would be pretty awesome if we could target the 30% of visitors who are not from the united states!
The only Amazon Associate Program being used is the US one.
And Amazon products aren't geo specific. They should be chosen according to it being related to the topic.
You can't geogtarget your hubs. But I am geotargeting my own personal sites that sell ebay products.
Amazon products are VERY geo-specific, since each of their stores in each country is entirely seperate.
A way around this would be to allow users to enter their amazon ID for each countries Amazon affiliate program and have hubpages automatically choose amazon adverts for the region of the viewer.
I do use geo-targetting for amazon on some of my personal sites, to ensure that I do not lose out on sales, it seems a shame to waste the opportunity on here too!
It would be great, since about 25% of my traffic is from the UK.... because I write many topics which relate solely to the UK.
That is a quarter of my traffic which I can not sell to just from one single country.... I have started trying to target Americans with sales pages, but with very little success, I just dont know what they want....
My adsense is going great though, so I have obviously bored enough of them into clicking!
I must also add...... that the hubpages owners/management would stand to gain a lot from this too.... I think that this could be truly worthwhile.... there aren't that many English speaking countries with an Amazon website anyway....
It's just the UK, Canada, and USA which really matter.... but I guess this site gets enough traffic from those countries to make it worth their while.... especially the UK one.... that has to be essential, thats another 60million plus possible customers... in fact it ships most of its stuff to Europe too.... so it is potentially doubling the market, not to mention offering additional products to focus on selling.
Germany has a larger economy than the UK, German hubs would stand to earn even more than UK ones!
Most Germans also learn English as their first foreign language in school -wiki
I do know that Germans ave good English, I have been to Germany several times. I don't think that knowing a second language necessarily means that you search on the net using that language.
Just out of interest all you hubbers out there, when you look at your traffic sources, how many come from googles international sites rather than google.com?
..good point!
I get traffic from all over the world,(not much) but maybe 35% of search traffic is from non US google.xx
in the last 24 hours
google.de (germany) 15
google.ca 16
google.com.au 26
google.co.in 13

Geo-targeting for Amazon and eBay on our list, but I can't say when we'll get to them. They are comparatively small revenue sources for most of our authors.
Fair enough, geo-targetting can be a pain to implement, indeed a nightmare considering referal sharing!
Thanks for the reply though!
I am surprised it is viewed as comparatively small though, I earn quite a lot through Amazon!
Just noticed this little snippet on the Ebay Partner Network blog that I wasn't aware of
"Different eBay programs on ePN use distinct tracking codes. This means that you earn no commission if you use a US ePN link (starting with http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/…) to send a British visitor to eBay.co.uk."
Are we any closer to getting geotargeting of Ebay as I can see a fair amount of lost revenue over this.

Published a hub on Oklahoma (please don’t get started on how it might be too generic – I had fun doing it). It became the template for my following hubs on Arizona and New Mexico. The Oklahoma one published just fine. The Arizona and New Mexico ones are now Not Featured due to Quality....

As per the new changes HubPages has made, I was required to make a few changes to the amount of Amazon products I was showing. I lowered the amount of products to lower than an average of 1 per 50 words on the hubs that HubPages has penalized. Furthermore, on hubs that weren't penalized I got rid...

In all the time I've been writing on the web (first started on Amazon in 2004), I've never been any good at selling products on the web. I don't know why that is. I know people who make a packet at promoting products on the web. And I know there are people who make a good amount on HP even though...

Every time I put an Amazon capsule on my articles it gets snipped. I write how it benefits people and how it relates to the article.

Over the past few months my SEO has definitely improved, adsense is getting there and the HP Ad revenue is steadily increasing, however my Amazon sales are still in the cellar with no signs of life lately! I have had a sporadic sale here and there over the past few months but nothing even close to...

Amazon says I need to redo most of my products, and I don't know what happened as the codes were there. Is there a fast way to do this? Can you sign in to Amazon once and then go back and forth fixing the problem. Anyone had this issue?
