I noticed this on my hubs, too. I guess this is a new program from ebay, similar to Adsense. So, I immediately proceeded to create an ebay affiliate ID and to plug it into hubpages...

Rudra I check your site and you  dont have an ebay ad in your page, I guess the removed it. I also wonder why I have an ebay ads on the start of my pages? I prefer google ads to be there.

This is my best guess... Only Paul can tell for sure, I hope he'll chime in shortly...

I believe the ebay ads will not appear during your share of impressions if you do not have an ebay affiliate id set up.  The reason they appear is because our ad optimization engine believes they will earn a higher return.   (note: they will always run a very small percentage of the time as an ongoing test, even if they aren't necessarily producing a higher return).

Do you mean the ads that say "ebay adcontext"?

Cos I was getting those all day (the dog food ads) and I didnt have an ebay account until a few minutes ago.

Or are you talking about something else??

As someone who promotes Ebay a lot, just let me concur with Paul. You will generally make more money with Ebay than with Adsense. Ebay has 7 day and 30 day cookies. For me, they also outperform Amazon by a huge margin.

That's good to know. But don't you find item availability an issue with Ebay ads? At least with Amazon, I can specify a ISBN number and know what my ads will be displaying. With ebay, aren't you risking that your ads are not going to show anything relevant?

It is sometimes a problem. I do wish we had more ability to control the Ebay capsules, like you can on Squidoo. But what I try and do is get very specific with my Ebay keywords and then display just one item. All I need them to do is click that link so the cookie gets placed. So I don't always display a whole list of items. It just depends on what the hub is about.

Rudra, with Adsense, you are also driving away traffic never to be seen again and for that click you are likely to get a few cents. I've gotten Ebay commissions as high as $43 off of one sale.

With pay per action you are driving away traffic never to return again. While a click is a click. Many dont use ebay specially in many non English speaking countries.
But thanks for letting us know that it does pay off, so its worth a try.
Yes it does seem to appear on the 40% impressions.

Hi, I'm sure I've seen the advice not to include an eBay capsule until you've been here a while and are getting more page views.  Is that true?

I can't imagine why. I would monetize from the get go.

    Haha, dog food.

    I haven't noticed any ads.

And I sure don't have an ebay account.
