    Malachi 3:8-10 (Amplified Bible)
8Will a man rob or defraud God? Yet you rob and defraud Me. But you say, In what way do we rob or defraud You? [You have withheld your] tithes and offerings.

9You are cursed with the curse, for you are robbing Me, even this whole nation.(A)

10Bring all the tithes (the whole tenth of your income) into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and prove Me now by it, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.(B)

I am not blaming the wealthy for the issues at hand like hunger and people that are homeless as well as sickness and disease, however God says if you have the means to help a person in need, then do so without judgement. They might not have access to the super wealthy but I am crying out like a voice in the wilderness... DO SOMETHING HUGE! If they gave twice the 10% tithe to a church of God this dying planet would be taken off life support and who knows maybe even an extension would granted, what do you think?

Aaah, but one does not have to give to a church to be giving to God.

Didn't Jesus say that what we do to the "least of these", we are doing unto him?

We can give our tithes directly to the poor and the sick rather than depend on church organizations or charities to disperse them. I'm not saying people shouldn't give to churches, I'm just saying there are other ways of giving back to God.

Ah yes... we could see millions of dollars spent by various sects in an effort to promote themselves above and beyond the others, increased funding for propaganda encouraging homophobia, misogyny, abstinence only sex "education," and opposition to any scientific endeavor that is arbitrarily decided to be contrary to the "will of God."

Lot of good that would do.

    There's a problem with that.
..It's almost impossible these days to tell which church(es) are God's houses.

True, this is correct but one would be Calvary Chapel, Chuck Smith, look at what they do, what they have done, lives change and would change.

Sorry, but I'm not a fan of Calvary Chapel.
I'm not a follower of any particular church.
All of them do SOME good;  all of them (in my experience) are very susceptible to false teachings,  many of them on a fundamental level.
I don't want it to seem that I think having "churches" is wrong.....I just am disappointed with MOST of the church "system"....

On tithing.....I've heard a couple different Pastors say parishioners should tithe and trust the leadership to put that money where it should go.   Not me.  I think it should be the other way around---I think the church leadership has the responsibility to make sure parishioners know exactly where all the money goes, or at least what it's intended to go for and then prove it openly, before they have to feel comfortable tithing at all.

I'm very down on the current popular system of Churches being "businesses" where the leadership is secretive about where tithe money (and even offering money) goes.

I like how Bill Gates and his family arrange their charity. It is hard work giving away money apparently and not as easy to do as some would think. smile
