Sprinklerman seems to be propagating a bogus email about Obama. I am a McCain supporter, but I also don't like when the facts are distorted either. Here is different info on Obama's tax plans that I found:

    CAPITAL GAINS TAX
Many home sales are exempt from the capital gains tax. As long as they meet rules requiring that they've lived in their home, homeowers don't have to pay the capital gains tax if the profits on their home are less than $250,000 for a single person or $500,000 for a married couple. The rule applies to workers and retirees alike.

    DIVIDEND TAX
Only taxpayers in the top bracket would pay 39.6 percent on dividends taxes. It's also unlikely that an increase in dividends taxes would crash the stockmarket.

    INCOME TAX
Obama will keep the Bush tax cuts for those making less than $250,000 per year. Plus, there will be ADDITIONAL tax credits. His plan means billions in breaks by nixing income taxes for the 7 million senior citizens making less than $50,000 a year, establishing a universal credit for the 10 million homeowners who do not itemize their deductions -- most of whom make less than $50,000 annually -- and providing 150 million Americans with tax cuts of up to $1,000.
"I'd reward work by providing an income tax cut of up to $500 per person -- or $1,000 for each working family -- to offset the payroll tax that they're already paying," Obama said.
"Because this credit would be greater than their income tax bill, my proposal would effectively eliminate all income taxes for 10 million working Americans."
Obama also said he would repeal the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest 1 percent of Americans.

    INHERITANCE TAX
Currently, the estate tax generally applies only to estates worth more than $2-million (or $4-million for couples). Above those amounts, the tax rate tops out at 45 percent. Both Obama and McCain support renewing the current estate tax with a few changes. McCain proposes to increase the exemption to $5-million ($10-million for couples) and reduce the tax rate to 15 percent. Obama proposes to increase the exemption to $3.5-million ($7-million for couples) and leave the top rate at 45 percent.

    OTHER TAXES
"New government taxes proposed on homes that are more than 2400 square feet."
Obama does not propose this. And we're not sure where the 2,400-square-feet number comes from.

"New gasoline taxes (as if gas weren't high enough already)"
Obama does not propose any new taxes on gasoline at the pump. He has said he intends to "close loopholes" on taxes for oil and gas companies.

"New taxes on natural resources consumption (heating gas, water, electricity)"
Obama has not proposed any new taxes on "heating gas, water, electricity" or other utilities. He has said that in principle he supports taxes on energy sources that pollute, but he has not proposed any specific measures as part of his overall tax plan.

    "New taxes on retirement accounts"
Obama has not proposed new taxes on retirement accounts.

"New taxes to pay for socialized medicine so we can receive the same level of medical care as other third-world countries!!!"
Obama intends to pay for his health care plan with tax increases on people making over $250,000. Sen. Hillary Clinton's health care plan did not constitute "socialism"; Obama's plan is similar to Clinton's though Obama's plan does not include a mandate requiring people to purchase health care.

Check out this link if you will:  http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/taxes.asp
    It's a known bogus email.

Like I said before, I will be voting for McCain, as I think he has much more experience and will do a better job, but let's keep the facts straight so people can make an informed decision.

Didn't read the whole thread but I got an NBC update yesturday that said the Govna Palin said that if Russia invades one more country as it did Gorgia, then she would call a war.  WTF!

She totally just lost my vote.  Now I am out of choices.  I don't like Obama and I don't like McCains choice for VP.

Dude, what if he kills over and Pailin takes rank!  OMG!  I think we should check her medical history to see if she has a history of PMS or some other female related issue that may disrupt her judgment.

I can see it now....That (fill in blank) said what? That's it, where's the 'easy button".  LOL.

Then Staples calls and ask for an appology and she says, why this button is not broken.  hahahahha

Don't worry Sandra. Jesus is on the side of the righteous Sarah Palin, and she believes the Irag war is a "task of God."

The woman is a great reason not to vote for McCain.

As you know - I hate to agree with the religious people, but - It is not the book, it is the believers. lol

Which helps not one little bit. I have come to my own conclusions, and I read that book very differently to almost every one except Peter Lopez. If you are leaning that way, he is your man.......

American citizens please don't take me wrong...

I'm not from America but I once asked an immigrant in America what was his thoughts of the Americans. His answer was funny:

There's only two kind of people in USA. The really inteligent ones and the really dumb!

Let just say I don't think Palin would be a good vice-president. And yes, I'm intitled to my opinion since USA can destroy my country (oh and the planet as well...) with a button press (and some switches turned, of course ^_^).

In the "old days" people used to say, "You can't believe everything you read in the newspaper," and that same theory applies to the Internet. There's so much disinformation on the Internet that people have to be very careful where they get their information.

This is why I have started writing a series of hubs that takes the platform planks from the Democratic Platform, to draw attention to the real position of the party and its candidates. Too often people get their information about the alleged positions of the candidates from their opponents. So far I have published hubs on Empowering America for a New Era and Economic Stewardship. The one I'll be working on next is Working for our Common Security.

Sandra - I have just realized I sound like all the pretentious religious hypocrites. "If you just read it with your heart open to Jesus, you will understand...." lol

    Try this -

Throw away any ideas of an all-powerful god.

Throw away any ideas of an actual person called Jesus who was the son of god.

You have a basic understanding of human psychology.

You have a basic understanding of politics.

You have a basic understanding of the big bang theory and evolution.

Now imagine you are transported back 2,000 years to a time when the Roman empire ruled the known world and oppressed everyone - using similar techniques to those used today. Nationalism, politics, awe of gods, military strength, etc, albeit without television.

What would you have written in the bible?

    Rules:

    1. No one is God.
    2. Get your own.
    3. laugh it off
    4. If you kill it, you better eat it.
    5. Don't boink chickens.
    6. don't be wasteful
    7. if it doesn't feel right, don't do it.
    8. clean up after yourselves
    9. no is better or worse then anyone else.
    10. If you think you need to kill for it, then it really isn't worth it.

I think McCain has a vendenta, and I think Palin is a liar.  She is so full of crap it is unbelievable.

CNN-keepin them honest, oh snap!  Palin has lied about nearly everything, and McCain is trying to back her up.  Maybe he is discovering these things after the fact, but it certainly does not make it right, or make him a credible president if he wants to protect a liar by making himself a liar himself.

But hey, Obama has some lies up his sleeve too.  They are all liars.  I cannot believe the circumstances of this election.  I cannot stand the ones who say, vote for the lesser of the the two evils.  Hell no!  I aint gonna vote for either, why in my right mind want to vote for something I know aint right?

My patriotic side tells me that if we keep feeling we need to vote for someone we know is bad, then we aren't being very responsible citizens.  Democracy is being "tainted" (such a fine word) by being forced to vote between bad and bad.  WTF?

  10. Misha profile image63
    Mishaposted 15 years ago

LOL Sandy, life keeps telling you there is no such thing as a "democracy" which you've been brainwashed to believe in, and you keep clinging to that illusion. smile

The choice is always between bad and worse. It takes a special kind of person to get that high, and being honest or caring for others' interests are NOT the traits that are required for that, quite the contrary, those traits prevent a person from climbing that high...

You discarded the bigger illusion of Christianity already, why don't you let this one go, too? smile

    1. profile image0
sandra rinckposted 15 years agoin reply to this

I understand what you are saying. smile  Are you sayinig I should still vote???  Cause I don't want to keep voting for things or people that are like that.  I don't want to be part of the number that still believes it is the right thing to do when clearly I can see that if I do then it will continue.

Some would say that if I don't then I have not flexed my right as a citizen, but I cannot get passed seeing that I don't really have a choice.  smile other than to not vote all together.

Neither canidate will do anything for me.  I will still be poor, I will still have credit card companies charging me rediculas amount for goinig a buck over my limit which are incured by them charging me for things like interest.  I will still have to pay a fortune to keep a roof over me and my kids head.  I will still live in a world that seemingly wants to have everything destroyed etc...

But your right, I was brainwashed into believing there was such as thing as democracy.  smile

  11. Misha profile image63
    Mishaposted 15 years ago

I personally don't vote since mid 90s. smile

And yes, neither candidate will take care of your baby for you, they have their own babies and other interests to care about. And they have like 200 million other people in this country, most of whom still expect the candidates to take care of their babies and themselves, too. big_smile

I try to stay focused on my own problems, and restrict their scope to a manageable size, this way I can make a difference smile
