thank you Thranax and Larasmama for trying to help me on my last question re the url broken link that Ezine says I have. I have two more questions now (for anyone who might be able to help) and I might need to mention that the answer to Thranax a moment ago is that first I had titled the article one thing and then I retitled it, so maybe that caused the problem wherein Ezine says I have broken links. And I used the url of the titled article to send to them as the link. So the url says, He Needed a Home, but the new title on my HubPages is Our Homeless Friend is Gone. Now here's my two other questions. I did originally use my profile page's url as the link. They say in their email to me that I have more than 2 self-serving active or inactive links. I don't have any other links. Could the problem be that I had originally sent the profile page's link? Then they also say that in my resource box I have a broken link. There I've used the article's url -- as described above. Second question: They did accept my first article finally and they said I could copy and paste this such-n-such emblem thing to my site. So I tried to copy it into my 'edited' page of the profile. It does go in there as a logo thing with the statement on it saying I'm on Ezine as an Expert Author, but then when I press Done Editing or whatever it is, it doesn't show up on my Profile page. Any suggestions will be welcomed. Thank you. (Sorry this is so long.)
No, you can change your title as often as you like, it will make no difference to the link..
Yes. The only links you can have in the body of the article are helpful ones, i.e. giving more information on the subject. Your profile is obviously just advertising yourself so that's "self serving".
Yes, if you had a website - but HubPages is not your website. You can't paste widgets like the EzineArticles emblem into your profile or any of your Hubs.
Thank you very much. I thought we were supposed to send our profile page (originally, I thought that.) Thanks for helping me see it is 'self-serving.' And thank you for explaining that HubPages is not my website. And now I know what a widget is. Thanks again.
Pamela, EzineArticles is very strict about what goes into the body of the article. Originally you weren't allowed to have any links in the body at all - you could only put links in the resource box. Now they allow links in the body but they still have to be relevant to the subject.
The second question is easily answered: HubPages does not permit inserting HTML code, so therefore it will not display correctly. All you can do is to put the code elsewhere, like on a blog or your website, then create a regular text link and some information on your profile page.
About the first question, it is difficult to answer without having seen the exact email you got from Ezines. As far as I know, they usually don't get that specific about what is wrong, rather they mention a number of possibilities and it is up to the author to read the guidelines and figure this out. So maybe there is the possibility it could be something else. For example, the author box must not contain an amount of text greater than 10 percent of the body text for your article. So try going over those guidelines again very carefully.
If you have a blog, there is now an Ezines plugin for Wordpress, which will also help to detect and clear any errors prior to publication.
Thank you very much. I will print all this out -- and the above replies, too. I better start a binder for this stuff. I'm starting to see how little I know. (-:

I just updated my HubPages profile a couple days ago and in my profile linked to some of my favorite hub topics that I wrote about. Is this bad to do this since on the profile page we have those same hubs randomly come up below? I just don't want overkill but like the thought that I've got my...

Could any SEO expert here in hubpages let me know why my webpage was on google first page now ended up in page 20? There is not a change that I thought would impact this, but I found this happened couple times before where my pages going from 1st in google ended up not found on top 5 pages.
