ATTENTION POOR PEOPLE!!! (in the U.S.)

   By "poor people", I mean those who are broke and desperate. From what I've been seeing around here lately, there certainly seems to be a lot of us.

   The thing has direct links to every federal/state/county assistance program in existence. And private sector help as well. The programs cover every aspect of poverty assistance; food, housing, medical, etc.
   
   Be advised that:
   
   A. The website is a maze. You will have to work at it to find what can help you.
   
   B. Applying to the various programs will be a bureaucratic nightmare. I know this from personal experience. It's an iterative process. I've found it's best to peck at it daily until completion.
   
   BOTTOM LINE though is that if there is assistance to be had, wherever you are in the US, you will find it on that site.

   Paradigm,maybe you could have been a little more politically correct and referred to those without money as Money Challenged
   or Underfunded

      I'd thought of that, but no alternative phrase came to mind. Oh, well. At least the thread will attract maximum attention this way. The website link could really help a lot of people here. And, at least, I made it clear that I'm part of the aforementioned group.
      
      However, now, from this point forward, I will refer to myself as Money Challenged.
      
      No. Scrap that. Make it, Temporarily Money Challenged.

      I do not understand why it is politically incorrect to say poor, but then I have little sympathy for political correctness anyway.
      
      When I was poor and struggling, I referred to myself as: poor, impoverished, broke, totally f____d!
      
      I particularly dislike "underfunded", which to me is more offensive than the terms I chose to use. It implies that "funding" is a necessary part of life. While funding may be required in certain circumstances, it is definitely not inevitable.

   Local info can be had via the united way? St. Vincents, Salvation Army, lock churches ( don't have to be a member), if a veteran then the VA

   Well, there are times in my life when I have definitely been poor, and totally F*****, I was also impoverished , too. You are who you are, in the circumstances of today. I've never truly been a member of the middle classes (middle classes are in the Uk are not the same as middle classes in the US) So, I suppose it has never been a problem for me to admit that I was poor. I see no shame in this.
