Hubpages Should have an option to Counter an Article

   I think Hubpages should have a button on a hub (only registered Hub authors can see it) that allows a Hub writer to Counter an article with his or her opposing view.
   
   Some things to take into consideration:
   1) When the counter is reviewed by a Hub admin., the counter needs to be comparable in quality. You obviously would not want to have a Counter view article published that is not worthy of debating quality.
   2) Once the Counter article has been approved, there should be a Point-Counterpoint featured and readers have the ability to vote on which side of the argument is better presented. The winner (by votes) should receive a special Debate badge (which increases by 25's).
   3) Point Counterpoint articles should naturally be linked to each other, but only after approval by the Hubpages admin.

      I do not think we would have the bandwidth to implement anything of this sort this year (given the number of other major projects we have in the works), but I have made a note of it and will bring it up in this week's community meeting.

   Yes, when the Hub author publishes a Hub there should be a check box the author must check to make it "non-counterable," but the default should be "counter-able."

   I have written a very few opinion type hubs in response to one I read, and will link back to the opposing view for readers that might be interested.  I think it adds to reader experience and to my own credence as well; an acceptance that I'm not the only one out there with an opinion.
   
   Having said that, I also think that most writers, particularly in the religion/politics fields, aren't interested in supplying a reader with an opposing view.  They are writing either to rant or to beat a drum, not to provide thoughtful, informative discourse.  As such, an opposing view link really doesn't belong on their hub.

   Print media do it all the time, and often times the writers for newspapers know each other, sometimes not. You are right people probably would rather that readers see only their view, but I believe it increases the bar. If you think someone wrote a counter-point that is better than your article, then by all means go in there and improve your Hub.
   
   I think it would raise the bar on Hubs across the board.
