I don't know if this has influenced HP traffic of late or not, but the old squidoo.com homepage, which used to show the message about HP's acquisition and gave links to HP, is now offline and has been down for more than a week.

I wonder if the redirects are gone, too. That would explain the drop off in Pinterest traffic (I think).
The squidoo.com URL still has to be online for redirects to work. So, no, redirects aren't working now. You can change the URLs for your pins, but others who have pinned your photos from the old Squidoo site will no longer have those photo URLs redirected to HP.
That is a real shame! I didn't realize the re-directs had an "expiration" date, but nothing I can do about repins regardless. Pinterest sends a lot of traffic to everything.
Thank you for the information Writer Fox and thank you for the Pinterest question too Susan.
The re-directs for individual articles on Squidoo were discontinued several months ago. And, even though the homepage for Squidoo.com is back online, the individual article pages do not redirect to their location on HP.
@writerfox, that isn't accurate.
Redirects for featured squidoo articles are in place.

Thank you for clarifying. Maybe what I was seeing were links to old Squidoo articles that were never moved to HP or were moved and no longer on the site. But I really thought someone posted on the forum a few months ago that the redirects didn't work. (I don't have any Squidoo articles to know for sure.)
I thought redirects were for ever... since HP bought the Squidoo.com domain.
At least that is what we heard last year.
Another fasle promise? After all those unpublished former lenses (not mine, though), the huge loss of earnings, the big changes we had to face after the transfer, the fact that our Amazon modules are still seen as ads and not as selling modules, which is detrimental for sales and thus for earnings, the fact that we can't cash out what's owed to us below the $50 threshold (which means months and monts losing money just to get the deserved payment). And now that traffic is next to zero...
Not the bright future that was promised at the time of the selling.
Squidoo.com is back online now: http://www.isitdownrightnow.com/squidoo.com.html
Really do appreciate your quick response, Paul!
Thanks Paul for the quick reply.
The traffic for my hubs have dropped to a third of what they were a week ago, (which is just about zero views now).
Very sad.
One odd thing about the Squidoo transition, that I just realized, is that many of my best performing Squidoo articles were redirected only months before they moved to HubPages. These were put on reviews.squidoo.com and the original URL, at that time, was 301d to reviews.squidoo.com from squidoo.com. When the transition to HP happened all of that was lost and only the reviews.squidoo.com page was forwarded because the original squidoo.com links do not forward to reviews.squidoo.com. However, most of the links that actually pointed to the articles over the years were pointed to those original squidoo.com links. Anything we can do to remedy this?
I feel a bit behind the times, but I had no idea that HP acquired Squidoo. I never wrote for them, and I'm just returning to HP, too, so I guess it's not that surprising that I don't know a thing about it.
@tcwriter, HubPages didn't acquire Squidoo, it only acquired the rights to transfer and host the webpages from that site.
I don't think you are correct Tipi. HP acquired Squidoo and it's assets; we had a choice whether to come over here and be hosted or not. The coding and other assets that made up Squidoo are now owned by HP, and we know that they used at least some of Squidoo's stuff ie: Amazon module info.
I check squidoo page now. The message and link on HP is there.
Squidoo is now gone, it's been absorbed by Hubpages, but you can make money there too, the process will just be slightly different.

I have a hub that was moved here from Squidoo in September that I haven't touched at all. But, now it's unfeatured due to lack of engagement. I thought I had four months before stuff like that happened.

Is it better to write for HubPages or Squidoo?Recently, I've heard a lot about Squidoo being possibly better than HubPages in many aspects. Which do you think is better to write for if you're looking for traffic and earnings?

If a niche site is bringing you a lot of traffic you can mention that as well.

I just realized that my Hubs get absolutely no views from Bing and Yahoo; however Google on the other hand still happens to send around 400 a day. Any idea why this is happening? One particular hub actually ranks extremely well on Google and gets me 50% of my traffic, I just searched for similar...

I am a transplanted Squidoo writer who is still learning the ropes on Hubpages and still in the process of getting all of my pages rewritten to meet Hubpages standards. Today I received a message that said "We regret to inform you that due to irregularities in your account's traffic, we...
