Thought I would share this one. I tagged one of my hubs:

    http://hubpages.com/hub/When-will-the-r … bottom-out

with the tag "luxury goods" as I was talking about how the real estate bubble blew up the luxury goods bubble. This resulted in some very inappropriate google ads for expensive shoes all over the place. I have now removed that tag, the shoe ads are gone and I now have appropriate ads.

I often wonder about that myself hmm how do I get dating ads on a Hub that has nothing to do with the content or attract people with pervy keywords? yikes I am like...ewwww tongue lol

Well, in this case I could identify a specific tag. I am sure you could do the same.

As they are Hubs for Q & A ...would that have a difference? hmm

I don't know - but I would look at your tags and see what might be causing it. It may just be that google was unable to supply appropriate ads and uses default ads. Which I guess at the moment seem to be about "marrying Indian girls" or "Dating Muslim girls" lol

Are tags really important to Google? I thought Google uses the entire content of your hub.

What I believe to be true is if I use similar tags to your hub, my hub will be grouped as similar to yours and your readers will be as good as mine. The opposite is also true.

      Don't tags get least importance?

Yes - they seem to be important. By tagging a word or phrase you are telling google what is important to your page.

Tags on hubpages are actually outbound links with the anchor text of the tag, so it will be weighted more than the normal text on the page, something like a header tag.

Thanks for sharing this Mark. Irrelevant really minimize affects the earning potential of a hubpage negatively.

you need to always make you tags relevant and not to far away from the truth. make a hub about dogs and then add cats as a tag you will get a mix of dog ads and cat ads.
