Crhistians aren't worth it, islam is puny, budisths are cowards, hindus are sleese-balls, ortodox are weird, luterans ditto, jews are evil, scientologists are laughable...

    So, religgion is utter crap!

But atheists are miserable and agnostics don't have balls.

    And I AM MAOME!!!

Lets see if we can achieve 1000 posts smile

I will not utter one more word about this.

But for the sake of this thread it has to be a new religion!

With all due respect, that's good because you also need to learn how to spell. You think name calling is going to solve anything? Grow up and get a real life. It's too bad that you are an angry, frustrated person. Regardless, I love you unconditionally and pray for your soul. No, I'm not religious. Just very spiritual. People such as yourself will eventually experience some kind of spiritual lesson to teach you otherwise. I just hope it's not life threatening.

Well, Christianity isn't about religion.  It's about having a relationship with Jesus Christ. God Bless.

I beg to disagree I have met many Christians who are Christian by religion and not by faith.  Christianity is a religion. Christians do not know the Torah...do not know the Law

      1. meetbrandon profile image72
meetbrandonposted 14 years agoin reply to this

Well, Christians aren't kept to any law because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.  But, I agree, there are many who are Christian by religion and unfortunately, these are folks who just don't understand the real meaning of salvation and how to attain it.

However, you shouldn't judge based on a few who weren't affirmed in the faith as well as they should have been!

        1. My Inner Jew profile image61
My Inner Jewposted 14 years agoin reply to this

You aren't kept to the Law if you are gentile....which most Christians are but you are kept to the Noahic laws.  And I am not judging.  I was born and raised in the deep south I am a Christian.  Everytime the church was open me and my family were there and I am a firm believer in Jesus, but I am converting to Messianic Judaism.  You cannot have Jesus without the Torah.  Saying the Torah is useless is like saying Jesus is useless.

          1. meetbrandon profile image72
meetbrandonposted 14 years agoin reply to this

I don't think the Torah is useless, however.  I think it serves its purpose for those who use it in their teachings.  Ultimately, Christians and Jews, while having a long history that has been somewhat of a mixed bag, are both God's people and I wish you well.

My Inner Jewposted 14 years agoin reply to this

Well, in thinking we don't have to keep the laws of the Torah it is like saying what Jesus did is useless.   I think you can't truly understand the Bible and Jesus sacrifice until we understand Judaism...and I am sorry if you feel I was talking about you, but I am talking about Christians in general, my family and friends included.

Religion is about people congretating with other people.  It is not necessary to be involved with any particular religion to have a relationship with God.  If a Christian was stranded on a desert island, would he be less of a Christian because he doesn't go to church?

    3. fishmox profile image60
fishmoxposted 14 years agoin reply to this

      Not even that.
Christianity is about a God who had compassion enough to do what fallen man could not do, live a righteous life, then take the penalty unto Himself which the fallen man so richly deserved.
The innocent for the guilty, so that immortality could be passed on to the mortal.
The God of eternity, limitless and all-powerful, stepping out of eternity into time, limiting Himself and humbling Himself, that He may redeem that which is not worth redeeming.

Religions and philosophies are of human perception of who and what God is, and our purposes for connecting with God. Religions and philosophies can be  very good things and/or a very bad things...its up to human interpretation...there's the rub!

The common thread is for each soul to be finding God in their own way, to where their heart is fulfilled, be it through faith, love, peace, happiness, joy, or mistakes and even the trials of life. It is a worthy cause and a purpose for life time's journey.

...a construct that developed because human beings needed it.  The average worker needed religion because they had to have something to look forward to - their life was short and hard.  The elite of society needed it because it was a way of controlling the workers, who inevitably outnumbered them and couldn't be controlled by sheer force.

Look at Ancient Egypt for an extreme example of how that worked.   Every person was completely focussed on the after-life.  They build tombs of stone but even their palaces were made of mud brick.  They filled their tombs with gold spoons but ate with wooden forks.  They had an amazing understanding of the human body, but applied it all to preserving dead ones rather healing the living.  That intense belief was what kept the society ticking over.
