   I tried posting comment on offending page (darkside) but it still didn't show.
   
   Excerpts:I find it extremely cynical and ironic that in your “Duplication vs Plagiarism” page
   you are using my image (http://www.nenadj.net/PE/plag1p.html) without permission.
   Image resides on my website www.nenadj.net and was originally published in AFT
   publication On Campus in November 2006.
   
   What would you do?

      You must file a formal DMCA complaint with HubPages if you feel someone has copied your writing or images inappropriately.  It's clearly stated as part of the site policies.
      
      Complaining here won't get you anywhere.

   Maybe, but sometimes just appealing to people’s sense of “what is right”
   works. And some people are just not aware of the whole “intellectual property”
   thing. Not in this case I would say. No need for hammer in every occasion.

   I believe Darkside simply hasn't seen the comments you left on that hub yet.  He's configured it to not display comments until they've been approved by him.  I'm sure when he sees them, he'll take care of the problem.  Should that not be the case, these are the instructions for filing a DMCA complaint.

   I think it's a lesson to all of us - we are very conscious of people plagiarizing the written word, because we're writers.  But we sometimes forget photographers and artists feel the same way!   
   
   Mistakes can also happen - I've belatedly discovered that some of the images I found using Flickrstorm (http://www.zoo-m.com/flickr-storm/) are not licensed under Creative Commons even though I thought I'd used the right search.  Now I have to try to remember which Hubs I might have used it for....grrrr.

   I was thinking it might be great if us fellow hubbers created a group on Flickr with images we do not mind other fellow hubbers using.  This way each of us could donate some images we are not that excited about, which would be a great help for others who could use these.  One thing someone does not use could help others greatly.  Just a thought.

      It's a nice idea, but there are so many thousands of available images on Flickr already, it hardly seems necessary.  All you have to do is click on Advanced Search, tick the "Creative Commons" and "For Commercial Use" boxes, and you'll find them.  There are even some images that you're allowed to alter (tick the box on the search to find them).
      
      Or you can use Flickrstorm with the same criteria.
      
      The only condition of use is that you must acknowledge the photographer and have a link to their photostream on your Hub.

   I have done those creative commons searches a few times, but I guess I still worry and try to use more of my own now.  Problem is I can only take so many pictures LOL.

      I guess the solution is to stop worrying.  The other thing you can do, if you want to be really sure it's OK, is to email the photographer.  Or you could post a comment under the photo saying "This photo is so beautiful I've used it in my article on ..."  They'll soon let you know if they object!

   I generally use www.istockphoto.com for my images.
   
   The images are high quality, cheap, well indexed, and there's no licensing problems.

       Yes, that has happened to me, too - and I am not a registered Flickr publisher/artist, so I can't leave them comments on Flickr. They just follow the links to find where I have used them.
