   I just got this email from Amzon;

   As you may have heard, California Governor Jerry Brown has signed legislation repealing the law that had forced us to terminate our California Associates. We are pleased to invite all California Associates whose accounts were closed due to the prior legislation to re-enroll in the Associates Program.

   Cagsil: I am cynical enough that I had braced myself for the fact that Amazon might NOT reinstate us, until I actually saw their announcement that they intended to do so.
   
   I remain cynical: will they yank it away again if/when Congress fails to establish a streamlined internet tax like Amazon wants?
   
   Probably not, but I tend to assume that everything on the net is fluid, and nothing lasts, so you have to keep juggling.
   
   Nonetheless, I'm relieved to have the program back...for now.

            Hey  K9, Amazon has only made the deal, which is temporary for the next year or two. If people are not going to get educated on more things which are their rights, then those rights are going to be lost. If things don't change in the political arena in America, then more freedoms are going to be lost and everyone will become nothing but servants to the politicians.
            
            If people do not take a stand with some source, then America is only going to decline(get worse). It's my mission to become that source- Cagsil is all about advocacy of citizens rights, increased awareness and knowledge. An educated citizen is a powerful resource and it's amazing that politicians prefer to maintain ignorant citizens, instead of giving them more power to control their own lives.
            
            I want to bring about an educated society that knows how to move forward and keep politicians in check.

               You are so right Cags! My concern with the Amazon issue here is that people will relax around the re-enrollment and forget to keep fighting for the best outcome.
               An ignorant citizen is a perfect constituent in the eyes of most politicians; whereas an educated society becomes the conscience politicians have chosen to lead without! Your path is one of honor and human enrichment Cags.

   Re-enrolling was a breeze. One click and Amazon was back up and running. They have a made a couple changes if you are interested;
   Changes to Amazon’s Product Advertising API
   
   
   As part of our continued effort to ensure that Product Advertising API is an efficient and effective advertising tool, we’ve identified opportunities to streamline the API. Certain operations and response groups currently supported are infrequently used or are not aligned with the primary purpose of the Product Advertising API, which is to enable Associates to make money by advertising Amazon products in their websites and applications and sending traffic back to Amazon. The changes, described below, will help us continue to provide you with relevant and useful features to advertise Amazon products. The following changes to the API will take effect on October 25, 2011:
   
   •Associate Tag will be a required and verified input parameter in all requests to the API
   •SellerLookup, SellerListingLookup and SellerListingSearch operations will no longer be supported by the API
   •ItemPage parameter will be limited to a maximum of 10 pages for ItemSearch results
   •MerchantId parameter will no longer be supported for filtering offers, variations and search results
   •Merchants search index will no longer be supported
   •Data returned by the Offers and ItemAttributes response groups will be limited to the most frequently used attributes

      1. Enter living room, kitchen, or bedroom.
      2. Close eyes and turn around three times.
      3. Look. What do you see in your field of vision that you (a) love and (b) will find on Amazon?
      4. Write an honest review of it, including pros and cons if applicable. Or write a "Five best [blah]" and include it as one of the five products, plus four other related products. (Make sure they all have lots of good customer reviews on Amazon.)
      5. If you can take good photos, use your own.
      
      Do one of those a week. Most will not get traffic, but every now and then you'll nail a popular search and get a steady trickle of sales. My kitty cat's reviews of her favorite products furnish me with more money than all my "thinky thoughts" articles put together, I'm embarrassed to say!

      No,you are not the only one stamping their feet at legislatures.  I cringe at the pain that many of my fellow Californians experienced over this whole thing, Nonetheless, I applaud Amazon for pulling out in the first place. They caused enough pain that Brown got lots of flack.

       Wow...really? I find for the most part Californians are high spirited, honest, and giving people. Like any group, you will find a few bad apples that stick out. But the majority of folks are top-notch!

    we elect the people who represent us... we voted to deregulate one half of the utilities to save money on our utility bills... but we did not deregulate the part that said how much a utility can charge for its resources... instead... we deregulated the restrictions on what utilities can pay for products... thus, the Rolling blackouts and the huge deficit that soon followed was because of the people... the ongoing scramble has continued since... ... it just goes on from there.... we elect the trouble we complain about everyday... I understand most of the state parks will close because we can no longer afford them... the funny thing is that the budget for the state parks is .001 of the whole budget...

       I guess the problems in every state these days has some small portion that can be blamed on the voting population...a very small portion! I just don't think that the people we vote to office are the people who serve. Meaning; far too many promises have been broke within every state, by just about every politician, and it is a measure of the political arena that we are in such deep trouble, not the voters. The smiling trustworthy faces of those who gain our vote, surely change to greedy self-promoting politicians as soon as they cross the threshold of their newly acquired offices. Just MHO.

    those are valid points!  But who continues to re-elect these people... The political mess is carefully orchestrated through policy etc.  But we the people continually buy it.  We may protest for a day and then we go back to our lives and grumble.

       You make good sense, as the grumbling is quite loud these days, Dave. It may be that we the people are so confused that we don't have any idea what to do to stop the insanity! So we do our best to vote for those things that seem to make the most sense for recovery. Then, we find out deep within the construct of the vote are hidden agendas we could have had no idea existed. I honestly believe that we the people would vote for the correct things and politicians, if we were not so busy trying to read between the lies...

       The key is to know when you are being manipulated.  With the internet there is no reason to only stick to CNN or whoever else gives news. If you truly listen to the media for bias you can even hear it in weather forecasts.

             That's my hope as well. It will be nice to have another component to draw from economically here on HubPages. With the Christmas holiday coming up in a couple of short months, the timing would seem perfect! Building holiday hubs for the season could help make a few extra bucks helping to close out 2011 in an up-swing!

    I say... kick a few out of office.... though Gray Davis being kicked out didn't do much good.  People need to start thinking before there is nothing left to think about.  Is poor education a design of political scheme?  maybe...  I wonder how many Californians actually understand what political science is and how it work?  The problem IMO comes down to the people... because we put these officials into office.... This used to be the sixth largest economy in the world... Now we are so far down the list that it seems the place must crash and burn to be fixed.  I say its a bunch of BS.  Politicians should be held accountable for their actions and their votes.  Full accounting should be mandatory, including where every cent of their budget is spent.  I think they should have to stand before their voters and explain where the money went.  etc. ... don't mind me too much tonight...  I am not nearly so radical... lol

       I can think of no more frustrating topic than the political mayhem we all are experiencing these days. Although, I am finding a certain level of amazement that Amazon has been return to the California Affiliates, it may be one tiny step in the right direction!

    I have always loved to write.  I worked for 28  years in healthcare... which is about as frustrating as dealing with the government.   My last employer was very shady and It has ruined my career, just by being associated with him.  After being nearly  homeless, I turned to the only thing that wasn't a crime... writing.  My clients oddly enough are not american... most are Australasian and I write for the UK audience primarily... which means that some days I have to write in three forms of English.

    Glad for so many on here that Brown relented.  But Brown is doing exactly what he said he would do.  He is making hard decisions cutting spending, trying to increase revenue.  He doesn't have many friends left because he is making touch decisions.  California was in a mess when he took over.  I think he is actually trying to fix it which will take all of us losing a little.  But if you look closley, he is cutting education, health and human service and other areas that are traditional democratic strongholds.  He will have no friends left sure, but California may be better off.

       You make very god points bgpappa, Brown has been doing what he said he would do in the begining.  I guess I expected him to start with the in-house repairs before branching out into the citizenship. Cali may well be better off in the long run, but for me right now; I'm thrilled to have Amazon back this close to Christmas...I could use the money!

    As a Californian, I am more than pleased to know that I can add Amazon ads to my hubs. Gov Brown did inherit an intractable mess, but he's been around the governor's shed all my life, so he is the best that we are going to get.
    
    Now...If I could make some MONEY, I could actually buy some of the fine, fine products and books that are screaming at me to buy them.

       Brown actually was the cause for the loss of Amazon for Californians (for the most part), it is the protest by the people that brought it back in my opinion. But, Like you, I am happy Amazon is letting Californians back!

    If you look at education and fire they are always the first to be cut when politicians want to make themselve look like they are trying to fix things.  If Brown really wanted to fix education he would get rid of the State Department of Education. About 50% of education funding never goes anywhere near schools and children. When was the last time you heard about either state or Fed. Department of Education getting cut? How close to children are those lovely political appointees.  Sorry as a teacher this is a sore spot. All Cali did when they taxes Amazone was put people out of work. How did that work for bringing income into the state?
