Traffic is dropping vigorously. Should I delete some hubs?

    I know that this isn't a unique topic to start a new thread but I wanted to ask something different. I want your opinion on what I am going to do.
    As you probably know that the traffic for many hubbers have significantly dropped to 5%. I am getting 200 to 300 views/day now and 6 days ago, it was 1800-2000.
    The drop broke me and I couldn't think of any possible reason for it. I don't spam while promoting, just 5 or 6 good bookmarking sites and I certainly don't spam on other blogs.
    But here is what I am going to do, but before I do it, I would appreciate if you can tell me about the possible outcomes of my actions.

    1. I am going to delete underperforming hubs that I published nearly 3 months ago and they are sitting idly.
    2. I am going to resubmit each hub's link to Search Engines (Google, Yahoo and Bing) and then, I am going to bookmark my links to those 5 to 6 top bookmarking sites like Digg and Delicious.

    (since, these bookmarking sites don't allow same url to be bookmarked, I am just going to change the description and add few more tags to make it more search engine friendly).
    3. I am going to edit each hub (that was performing well) and update it.
    4. I'll ping the URLs to Pingler, Ping-Goat and Ping-O-matic.
    5. I'll send the RSS feed url the RSS aggregator sites.
    6. Then, the last step would be to comment on legitimate blogs that have my interest and post a valuable comment (no spamming, no matter what happens).

    That is all I am going to do. Please read it carefully and tell me if any of my actions would be considered as spamming! Your help will cure me of the dilemma of working with HubPages!

      Good luck!  Mine fell abruptly 6 months ago and has never recovered no matter what I've tried.  Apparently more hubbers are beginning to experience the same thing.  Jason just posted a link to advice by Robin to help regain traffic.  How she found out this info is helpful, I cannot say.  smile

      Join the club.  Exactly the same thing has happened to me.  I was lucky, I didn't suffer in the August updates like many Hubbers - in fact my traffic went up.  Then just before Christmas it went down - then recovered - and now it's dropped like a stone again.

      Google is obviously tweaking, so I do think it's worth waiting to see if they tweak back. 

      I wouldn't delete anything you published only 3 months ago, unless you think they could be the reason for your "slap".  A Hub that's only 3 months old hasn't had time to prove itself or otherwise.

      I don't think a drop of that magnitude can be attributed to a seasonal thing, Richie!  Mine dropped right in the middle of my best earnings and traffic season.

    If you really want to social book mark do not only submit your hubs, self promotion is against their rules for most of them.. mix yours in with several other sites or you will get slapped there also!! However that being said I have found the results of social bookmarking negligible!
    Google already say that the links they consider valuable now are those that are within the text.

    I update my well performing hubs every few months and always have done.. they perform better whenever I do!

      I agree. I found social bookmarking a waste. I had blogs it never worked but organic backlinks did.

        No it doesn't when I don't social bookmark I still get indexed within 24 hours earlier it was longer now that I have more hubs (yes I meant more) its much faster so for you I doubt it will take time. But there's no harm in social bookmarking. Do it the first time its fine. But doing it again after you tweak your hub is a waste I guess

    A traffic of 200 to 300 views/day from 1800-2000 is significant. If I were you I would not change anything but would study what happens to the traffic for the next seven days. After the seven days are over, you can draw a conclusion and then jump into real action.

    I'm like Randy, its now coming up 6 months since I saw any decent traffic. In fact, in whatever tweak they did a few days ago I saw a further fall.

    Before my internet access became too slow to do anything online (I am now getting a download speed of 6Kbs/s which is just about enough to open one web page at a time, if I keep clicking on 'retry' when the page won't load), I updated about 10 hubs.

    All of those hubs jumped in hubscore from the 50s to the 70s, but still never saw any traffic at all.

    When Google hates you, it doesn't seem to matter what you do.

      There are a couple of things you haven't tried.  One is reducing your keyword density to below 5%.  The other is deleting any Hubs on subjects Google has identified as linked to spammers. 

      I see a lot of sites that are not allowing these topics, including Wizzley:

      The fact that Wizzley doesn't allow these topics is significant, because otherwise they're much more liberal than HubPages.

      The reason they do it is the fact that a few "bad apples" in your domain can cause the whole domain to be slapped.

    All I can say is that my traffic is partially going to waste with CPM being extremely low everyday this month, which means earnings will be a lot less for this month overall.

    All the advertisers are like **** it!

    I would not delete the hubs -- perhaps just unpublish them. I have deleted a lot of hubs in the past, but have just been unpublishing lately -- if I feel they are bad topics or poorly optimized.

    I would hesitate to delete hubs.  I had a huge drop, but then a few months later it all came back. It seems to me that less content is not the way to make more money in the long run. Especially when you don't really know what caused the drop in the first place.

    I unpublish hubs on my other account, but only after months of receiving little to no activity.  If they never contributed to gaining views, then I figure it did no harm in unpublishing them.

    Some of them I will go back to tweak and re-publish, but more often than not, they languish until I decide to permanently delete them.

    I wouldn't delete the whole Hub tongue maybe it does need a lil 'umph' to it so update it smile I hv a lot of Hubs still needing 'summaries' lol and the ones filled in hv got traffic smile also, write a spin-off Hub on your popular hubs smile My own traffic has picked up - nothing in #'s compared to you lol but may be due to my other blogs and promo efforts smile just some thoughts.

    Thanks for the help friends. I wouldn't be deleting hubs afterall and also, I gave it a thought and I wouldn't be using Social Bookmarking either. I don't want to mess things up further.
    I'll keep publishing new articles then. smile

      No, just write up another Hub that's related to one of your high traffic Hubs smile everybody does it to some extent wink if wood toys are popular, write on best wood to use tongue just a example smile but you can always write related articles on other sites too - which helps with linking wink and have your author bio linking back to hubpages big_smile

    Given how some accounts are bobbing up and down it might pay to open a second account in the hope at least one of them will be doing okay at any given time....

      Wiser would be to open an account somewhere else, or choose your best-performing topic and start a blog about it.  These days, with Google being so unpredictable, it's wise to diversify as much as possible.
